Engg. suggested to put piers, Our builders gave us a price of $11000 for 30 Piers with 450 mm diameter 1800 mm depth. Also additional N12 bar between these pillars in H2 waffle pod slab. I am concerned if the cost builder gave us is is right and not or usually how much it cost to put in piers. All suggestion appreciated. Apparently P is kind of like Problem, which means the land doesn't fall into any of the other standard categories. Mine was due to uncontrolled fill, so my raft slab has to have deeper and wider ...beams? And the steel had to be upgraded. Plus I think also includes a slightly deeper site cut. If you can get a compaction certificate from the developer it might raise the soil classification up. Based on the soil test they have to assume the soil was just dumped, leveled and ready to build on. If you can show it was compacted as per Australian standards then they can work it up in classification. Ours went from a P class to a H1 and saved us a few thousand based on that alone. If it isn't a new development and is land that's been built on before then you're out of a luck and stuck with the additional costs.
