Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 382Mar 29, 2017 12:03 pm One more question - was the powder room in the original plan or was it a wc originally. We asked for a small sink to be installed in our wc to make it a powder room and in our previous floor plan, a powder room was drawn and it was very fancy but now, we have to be more budget conscious! Was it an exxy upgrade? Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 383Mar 29, 2017 1:33 pm No probs Lenz, happy to help. Yes, ours was only a wc and we turned it into a powder by decreasing the linen size. To add the vanity i think we paid $1700. Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 387Apr 03, 2017 10:54 am I think we will go with something similar RT. We met with our consultant over the weekend and nutted out a plan. They have agreed to wind back the price to what it was when we signed last year and so far the estimations put us on budget. We are extending the garage, putting in a roller door, increasing the size of the shower in the main bathroom and thus the bathroom itself and turning the wc into a powder room. I will post photos of the plan when we get them back! So very exciting again now! The consultant reckons its pretty straightforward now - we dont need to apply for dispensation and head office already has all the site details etc so technically we shouldnt have to wait that long. We have asked for another color consult as we have to rethink some upgrades we put in initially but will choose from the included range if we can. And also, being a different house, somethings we chose then, I don't think works now. Happy days! Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 388Apr 03, 2017 1:42 pm That's great news lenz. Look forward to seeing your plans and colour selections. Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 389Apr 03, 2017 8:53 pm Good luck with it all lenz. I always thought you had to have the driveway done to get the CO certificate? Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 392Apr 04, 2017 3:52 pm Lenz88 Quick question - did anyone change their wardrobe doors to sliding doors? If so, what was the cost involved? I think we paid under $800 for 3 bedrooms mirrored sliding doors and then to increase the height it was an additional $150 per room Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 393Apr 04, 2017 5:03 pm rtforresters rondy Good luck with it all lenz. Don't like mirrored doors in bedrooms. Bad feng shui. One thing to note: the wardrobes are not very wide. Barely wide enough for a large coat hanger. My ethnicity is Chinese. My husband isn't. Yet, he is the one with the Feng Shui requirements. As I understand it, unless your house number is 4 or 44, you are sweet. There are things you can do to make it comply with FS requirements. I didn't even think about the depth of the cupboards. Thanks for the heads up Rondy. Gorgeous day in Melbourne for a driveway pour today! Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 397Apr 05, 2017 4:45 pm I went past the house today and the electricians were there so was able to go in. Yes, it's the fenwick that we're building with the garage at the rear as we're on a corner block. We made out first deposit in August 2014 and then with land delays we waited about 2yrs before they commenced building.
