Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 171Jun 17, 2016 1:07 pm luckyaussiemum Our slab layed next Monday, weather permitting. And Yes, it is the Brick company who said we could chose from next range up too, so series nine, as ours was an 8, BUT not the one we picked in the end, but any others fine. Argh. Wodonga is a good 50+ mins from here, had to leave TAFE early (teacher wasn't impressed--tough luck for her) to go to Beechworth get kids from school then Wodonga by 4.30pm. Colours of bricks in brochure so different IRL I couldn't have chosen that way and glad I made the hike though I wasn't going to as I was to annoyed. Other bricks we are considering we are waiting to hear back from re total extra price and IF they bloody can get them too! IF we end up with neither choice God knows what we will choose. There was one other we toyed with BUT it changes all our other colors not just one, roof, fascia, windows.... That's interesting.. They gave us the impression that series 7 bricks were the highest lucky I like my new bricks or there may have been some choice words.. Going for another look at the house tonight.. Hopefully some more progress! Macedon 322/DFH 2016!! Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 172Jun 17, 2016 1:11 pm rtforresters Im glad the brick company will substitute another of higher category for no additional charge. Hope you get what you want coz i doubt DFH will allow you to change all the colours to suit. Well as our brick choice was blue and no others bar one really ugly brick that would match a bluish (ironside) roof, We'd have to change roof colour, windows, guttering as nothing else similar at all . Their problem not mine so they can suck it up . Colour selection lady we saw again didn't seem to to mind. Windsor 28/DFH 2016. I think they go up to 11 but we considered an 11 yesterday but she put us off saying it'd be to much but wouldn't tell us how much exactly after several prompts so we decided against pursuing. Windsor 28/DFH 2016. Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 174Jun 17, 2016 1:24 pm Just been told they may have to do a reverse build!. Slab, windows, Frame up, then wait for bricks so they wrap your house up doing inside whilst waiting for outside. Interesting. They'd wanna wrap it well, as been raining on and off for weeks and weather not going to be better over winter I'd say. I have never seen this done before. Windsor 28/DFH 2016. They don't wrap it well..we had to nail ours down many times.. We had a missing window for months and torrential rain.. We had to cover that too as our SS was on leave Macedon 322/DFH 2016!! I read that peoples DFH's experiences had been good one reason I opted for them in the end. I guess stuff happens though. Argh. Wait and see I guess Windsor 28/DFH 2016. Wait and see I guess It's annoying but it's out of their control when their suppliers stock is either unavailable or discontinued. Im hoping this doesnt happen to us as we chose all our colours nov last yr Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 178Jun 17, 2016 2:27 pm Yes, I get stuff happens! But then sometimes I don't get how it does! I hope your choices are fine rtforrester. I think me living rurally has made a difference re supply as local mob don't make some stock personally or usually. Windsor 28/DFH 2016. Btw if they are planning on doing your internals before the bricking, do you have a say on this? Ive heard of other builders doing this and it hasnt turned out well. The rain would leak through and get the plaster wet. Re: Building with Dennis Family Homes 180Jun 17, 2016 3:15 pm rtforresters luckyaussiemum Yes, I get stuff happens! I hope it doesn't come to that, as 2 out of the last 3 weeks we have had constant rain from mild to heavy. Windsor 28/DFH 2016.
