We were looking at blocks directly opposite the park in the new stage, but the land doesn't register until December. Think the previous sale on this block fell through. So made it an easy decision in the end. Thats great sometimes things work out for a reason! GJ Gardner and Burbank seem to make up the rest from what we observed. Looks like the sales guys in Plantation Homes would have received good bonuses for their efforts. Re: Who's building in Capestone, Mango Hill ? 84Aug 06, 2016 7:42 pm bug82 Just going by the quotes I've received, Plantation appear to be pretty good value. Very nearly went with them ourselves. We almost finalized with Clarendon and were one transaction away from putting down the initial deposit. However, a visit to Yarrabillba and an interaction with a SC there for Metricon helped intro us to a plan from Metricon which tickled our fancies. Adding in the the extras over the standard inclusions, we had most of what we wanted, based on our available budget. So Metricon it is, and interestingly, the sale was done through the SC in Yarabillba. Thank you, about 4wks Re: Who's building in Capestone, Mango Hill ? 94Aug 21, 2016 9:27 pm Hi, We have put a deposit down on a block in stage 15, settlement should be around November time. First time building a house! We got a quote from Plantation to build, but need to get a couple more from other builders. Plantation added an extra $9.5K to upgrade from an S slab (monolithic) to H1 slab (waffle pod) (that may change on outcome of soil test). I'm not sure i'm keen on waffle pod slabs - putting big blocks of polystyrene in to replace concrete doesn't sound right! Re: Who's building in Capestone, Mango Hill ? 96Aug 21, 2016 10:14 pm caitnkase I thought the same thing :/ apparently they go with what ever the engineer says but the whole pod things got me stumped I need to find out more! What I don't understand is why an H1 slab is 2 to 3 times thicker (so that justifies the extra cost), but it's got the polystyrene foam in it (I guess that means they can use less concrete?) So why is the price increase so much? Another thing.. i'd be a bit scared to use a jack to lift the car in the garage to do maintenance work on it. What if you jack goes through the floor, due to parts being so thin? I agree I had a client who lays carpet say they were hammering the edges in and his hammer went straight through a slab :/ Re: Who's building in Capestone, Mango Hill ? 98Aug 22, 2016 10:04 am I received a Supplementary Rates Notice from the Moreton Bay council last week for 'Supplementary Rates and Charges', which comes to about $300. It didn't make much sense to me, except that it's charges for subdivision. But didn't we pay all that when registering? First time land purchase, so i am quite ignorant about all these charges.
