Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 42Apr 20, 2016 12:27 pm I think they are just a bit out of order for some reason Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 43Apr 20, 2016 1:13 pm Yeah, probably get used to that... We got a call to set up our final builders interview as we had received planning approval from council. We hadn't even received preliminary final plans at that stage or the selections "pack"..... viewtopic.php?t=82566 Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 44Apr 22, 2016 4:55 am Got final plans and selections information today. All the best when things get started. Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 46Apr 28, 2016 7:53 am So how's it all going for you? Any 'wailing and gnashing of teeth' over the selections? Or have you not gone that far, yet? Glad your footings came in under the ante... you don't want that kind of nightmare! We did a drive by and saw the samples lie-ing (cr@ppy auto censor) on our block... builder says we should expect that soon. I was sne@ky (auto censor again! Forbidden text!) and deliberately told them that I'd been talking to people building in Seaford Meadows, and that I didn't expect any nasty (no censor??!) surprises. All with an air of 'brainless candour', I suppose you'd call it. Doesn't hurt to play dumb. They hastened to assure me that it should be 'very similar' to everyone else's. Seeing they allowed $34,000, I expect a large chunk of that back. I hope all is smooth sailing for you, from here on. Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 47Apr 28, 2016 8:21 am We have booked in all of our selections. Busy couple of weeks coming up soon. We have been out to the interiors and kitchen place a few times now, and feel like we have it pretty much narrowed down to what we want. So should hopefully be not to stressful picking it all out. We also saw that our council application had been 'accepted' so at least that part of the process in in the system now. Looking at the dates on other people's applications, it seems like they only take a few weeks to go from accepted to approved. There is a fairmont sold sign up there now. Trying to keep emotions in check as we technically don't have the bank loan or settlement yet. But it's more ours than anyone else's!! We have literally just left the land just now and there is indeed a fairmont sold sign on your block. There are several new frames up opposite us, all seem to be hinkinbotham group apart from one Metricon that has huge sign saying, 'coming soon' that will be you guys soon MJT Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 50Apr 29, 2016 6:18 pm Wow, looks like things are a'movin' an a'shakin'... ooooh nice. Yeah, I scoped out all the selections places so I definitely knew what I wanted... and had a few alternatives up my sleeve. The sold signs make it feel so definite, no? Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 52May 06, 2016 8:52 pm Selections this week coming up The bank extended our pre-approval period too so thats nice. Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 53May 06, 2016 9:30 pm That's good to hear, good luck not overspending in selections! We have ours in 9 days. We had a few fencing quotes but now we have all the proper details, we've sent them through and our quotes have doubled, we need way more retaining than we realised, it's a bit of a pain Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 54May 06, 2016 9:37 pm On you poor things we Are in the same boat, fairmont told us we would need $200 in retaining complete but our quotes say 10k! Not sure how it can be so wrong :/ Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 55May 06, 2016 9:48 pm im calculating retaining and fence pricing if we were to do it ourselves. then i can see how much more it is for someone else to do it all Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 56May 06, 2016 10:02 pm If we knew how to do it ourselves, we would. We budgeted 7k for fencing but latest quote was 14k! I nearly fell off my seat Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 57May 06, 2016 10:05 pm heatherkam On you poor things we Are in the same boat, fairmont told us we would need $200 in retaining complete but our quotes say 10k! Not sure how it can be so wrong :/ Oh my god Heatherkam, that's a huge difference If I'd know how much more the retaining would have been, I would have got land that didn't need it. Simonds told us we'd need, 'a bit at the back' turns out we need one whole side and half the other too. I'm gutted Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 58May 06, 2016 10:17 pm Yep I feel ya, the words used in our conversations were "minimal retaining" I guess I forgot minimal to someone who owns the Latest Mercedes May not be speaking my minimal language.....and ours is a flat block...so I'm on the quote road too, hoping we strike some luck somewhere along the line! Haha so true! Do you have any neighbors? The blocks surrounding us are still for sale so we will have to foot the whole bill I think. After the trouble we've had with our broker, I'm having a, 'negative moment' Re: First Home - Fairmont Custom - Seaford Meadows 60May 06, 2016 10:46 pm Oh dear, hope you see the financial light soon, yes we know our neighbours, and we share another fence with 3 other display homes that already had our fencing up, we lucked out in our back fence went across the back of two homes behind us and one already up next door with the display but we will need to pull it down to retain underneath now, our real neighbours are about to start soon so waiting for their site cut to see if retaining is required between us. I contacted the legal dept and got a book posted out about fencing and the law, as we are pulling down a fence with have to give notice and this book has the template in it for when we go to do our retaining, maybe you can. Contact them to also get the book if that helps Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that. Thank you 0 39049 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6172 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 |
