Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 23, 2015 11:00 pm Hi everyone, I've been following many posts on here during the process of our build and ALL have been of massive help to me. Currently our home has its roof trusses up so I'll try and bring everything up to speed with some images. I look forward to sharing ideas and opinions with you all! April 2014 - purchased block of 2.5 acres May 2014 - reached settlement December 2014 - contacted chosen builder after researching others in the area and started discussing ideas for our home. Considering we were so close to Christmas holidays at this stage there was some time loss. February 2015 - finalised plans for our home March 2015 - got the ball rolling with bank application and started choosong all our colour options and pc items April 2015 - lodged council application April 2015 - council application approved and bank application approved! April 2015 - excavations started May 2015 - concrete slab poured / frame put up and roof trusses placed. Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the OSR to deal with they're paperwork for this grant? Follow our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77542 Re: Building in Hillview Kempsey 7May 28, 2015 10:23 am Oh I should mention we lodged our paperwork back when we signed the contract for the house, within about 2-3 weeks we had received a letter to say it was approved and then we just had to wait until the first progress payment to the builder to receive the funds from our bank. Re: Building in Hillview Kempsey 8May 28, 2015 10:34 am ShannaLK Oh I should mention we lodged our paperwork back when we signed the contract for the house, within about 2-3 weeks we had received a letter to say it was approved and then we just had to wait until the first progress payment to the builder to receive the funds from our bank. Thanks ShannaLK - we've had trouble with our bank (eg. one person says we get the grant at the start and another says its not til settlement) I was finally able to grab the paperwork and get an hour to myself to sit down and focus and read it myself and i finally got some truth! ITS TO BE PAID AT FIRST PROGRESS PAYMENT. Woah i was cranky that our bank gave us the bum steer! Anywho... Lodging our paperwork now, hopefully its paid in the next couple of weeks... hopefully... I've said it before and I'll say it again - your block is awesome! Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77196 Re: Building in Hillview Kempsey 12May 29, 2015 7:29 am SmartHomesBuild Hi, I'd like to see your plans if you could upload it. I've said it before and I'll say it again - your block is awesome! Thank you! It's a beautiful spot that we've got, there's even a school 2 minutes close by so that's good for the future! The only downside is... We will have to do a lot of drainage at the front of our property because it slopes down and we did a cut and fill job. Here's a copy of our plans I should also mention that were in the process of changing the linen cupboard to have a sliding door entry from the laundry instead of a swinging door from the hallway near the bathroom. I just felt that i would use it much more often from the laundry as i plan on storing our vacuum / broom / mop + all linen in there. I can always place floating shelves in the bathroom for towels if i ever get sick of having to replace them. Since our last visit we have had our gutters installed which are the same colour as what our roof will be. Colourbond in basalt. And our bricks will be PGH moon dust. Front door is Hume XS24. We're getting kick stand vanities but our piping seems to be under the frame and I'm not sure if this going to be a problem...? Regarding your frame over your plumbing, surely that can't be helpful for the plumber? Wouldn't hurt to mention it to your site supervisor now for a easy fix. I only noticed mine on Friday so I'll be sending an email to the builder today. Re: Building in Hillview Kempsey 18Jun 01, 2015 7:51 am ShannaLK you make me a little less nervous knowing that someone else has the same situation. I messaged our builder this morning asking what's going on here.. They just cut a section out of the frames to allow for the pipes to run through the wall. Are kick stand vanities wall hung or go to the floor? Hi MnT, we're getting kickstand which means they'll be attached to the floor and not wall hung. We would have loved wall hung but the budget just wouldn't allow it. I don't think it'll cause a problem seeing as wall hung still operate perfectly fine and they're plumbed that way. Maybe it's done so we can get wall hung in the future?
