Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 362Jul 14, 2017 12:43 pm OMG, the hilarity never ends... All the door handles have been put higher than I specified, and now the poor builders have to replace ALL the interior doors except the bi-folds. I gotta say my site supervisor is a real sweetheart - he wasn't fazed at ALL. I've just ordered these tiles for the pantry floor. Woo hoo! Couldn't believe hubby was happy to let me have them - he called them 'trippy'. I said that's ok, cuz so am I. Made sure I ordered them the second he said yes... hahahaha. Too many temptaitions! Does anyone know a good tiler? Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 365Jul 14, 2017 1:43 pm Cha ching $ signs galore. Love the tiles and splashback very lux Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 366Jul 14, 2017 2:06 pm Thanks! Surprisingly, the splashback wasn't that expensive! Only a fraction more than the regular glass, and as we got the two runs out of one sheet, it was a lot less than we allowed for. The tiles were on sale, so, again, the pocket didn't suffer. Hoo-freakin'-ray! The outdoor kitchen MAY come in a fraction more expensive than I thought, seeing as hubby is so anti DIY. That's ok, cuz I've saved us a lot in crafting, and recovering, and re-purposing in lamps, clocks, furniture etc. Wondering if hubby'll let me dye the leather lounge, now! Very cool for the floor Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 371Jul 27, 2017 5:41 pm Those tiles are used for a fancy new building that has just gone up in town, they look fab in real life!!! I will take a pic next time I'm near there Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 372Jul 31, 2017 10:59 am Thanks Charlibear! Did they use them on the floor or the walls? The builder's tiler has agreed to do the pantry floor (no danger money), and even to go pick them up for me - what a sweetheart. He and his missus are really nice folks - I'll be ringing them in future, if I want tiling done. Very reasonable price... can't wait to see my little little bit of whimsy! Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 374Jul 31, 2017 1:12 pm Oh wow, did they? Definitely have to keep an eye out... thanks for the heads up! It's going well, I had a little gossip from the tiler - I had asked if he heard about our doors, and then he asked if we knew about our benchtops - apparently the kitchen people had tried to install them and found a huge scratch across the piece, so it all had to be done again. That's the only thing with F0rm@t, I wish they would just send you a weekly update via email. I don't care what happens, I just want to KNOW. Makes it easier to arrange the rest of your life, if you know there's a delay, or they're going quicker, etc etc. Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 375Aug 04, 2017 1:40 pm Hi All, This is not related to our house - this is an opinion gathering exercise... just for fun! The pressed tin people sent me an email featuring this splashback - I like pressed tin... but what got me was the kickboard lighting... why? For What? Por Quoi? My Mother in law loves it, she loves anything with lights, you can hypnotize her with a decent set of Christmas lights - I think it looks like Voldemort is gonna pop out of a drawer, or your fridge is about to be replaced by the tardis. (Not necessarily bad things in themselves, but startling when trying to make blueberry pancakes on a lazy Sunday morning). I think it's twee. Especially the sad old gits section where the dishwasher makes a weird break. Hubby is on the fence, but doesn't think that it's appropriate to this particular kitchen. Ok, I know you're not gonna switch it on of a Sunday morning - so when do you? When you have that party where everyone puts their car keys in Nanna's antique carnival glass dish? Please post your opinion, because I'm DREADFULLY interested, for no apparent reason. I don't expect automatic agreement with me; we all have our own taste, but I really want to know how many people like it and WHY? Does it make you happy? Does it make you puke? Are you thinking, "Wow, I'll never step in the kid's spilt soft drink again!"? Do you feel like "Oh not ANOTHER Poltergeist movie?" TELL ME ALL! Here we go - this pic was put in a magazine... Just overall look? Or the thought that the fridge might be replaced by the Tardis? Which, when I think about it, would be pretty cool! Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 378Aug 04, 2017 2:15 pm It's a great way to highlight crumbs that have accumulated throughout the day, in our house that's usually plenty because of the kids and our cat that walks round crunching her biscuits. My hubby would love the look of it but me, not so much Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 379Aug 04, 2017 2:54 pm Marshall5858 It's a great way to highlight crumbs that have accumulated throughout the day, in our house that's usually plenty because of the kids and our cat that walks round crunching her biscuits. My hubby would love the look of it but me, not so much OMG... that made me laugh so much! "The latest trend in Crumb-lighting!" just ran through my head In Shaynna Blaze's voice - you know, the way she says 'pitcha' for picture...that accent! Way to blind the cat, come to think of it... Hahaha... I never thought of that! You could feed a family of four with our crumbs at day's end, I'd say.... OMG... sides.... splitting...! Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 380Aug 06, 2017 11:32 am Well, I'm meeting the building inspector on Tuesday; the SS txt me that the waterproofing had been done. I'm waiting for emails back from fencers and landscapers... as an ASD person I find it EXTREMELY confronting to cold call people, even if I'm in a social headspace... I prefer that initial email contact... but unless you ring, it seems they don't want the job. Oh well, their loss. I've got to email the Rod's 'n' Rails fella, and see if he can make it on Tuesday to give me a quote on robes and the linen press/pantry fit out....doesn't matter if he can't, but I like a ballpark figure!
