Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 25, 2016 8:21 pm Hi, I am building a new home with a Dennis Homes in Victoria We are supposed to connect our own underground power pit. (United Energy). Am I correct in assuming the following sequence? 1. Apply and pay to United Energy for the Underground Power Pit installation. 2. Have my own electrician to install from pole to pit 3. The builder will then install from pit to home Or will United Energy organise to have their electrician to install from pole to pit? Find it steep to pay United Energy a few grand just for them to approve it on paper, and for myself to find an electrician to actually do the work On a separate note, I was also informed by United Energy that it is the same cost whether I apply 1 phase or 3 phase. Most volume builders include 1 phase in their contract. Anyone knows how much extra the builders usually charge if I apply for 3 phase? Re: Pole to pit electricity ; who does what? 2Nov 02, 2016 10:41 am Hi, I hope you are done with the Pole to Pit conversion and it was painless. I am just starting and already been frustrating just to get a quote from United Energy. Called them 3 times and still waiting for a quote after they have started processing my application 2 weeks ago. They also indicated that it will take 30 working days to install the pit !! Would you be able to share your experience - how long to get a quote ? - how much did it cost ? - how long to get the pit done ? BTW, my builder is charging me $1100 to install 3 phase for a double storey house as the refrigerated air conditioner will need 3-phase.
