Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 21, 2016 2:31 pm Hi long time stalker first time poster I hope this works. We are building rio with roseville facade it's been a long journey but we are finally at the start now so it's getting real. Once I work out how to load photos I will put up the plans, but basically same as display we viewed with garage flipped to suit our block and different facade after selecting colours I became obsessed with checking out roofs I think I have managed to control that concerning habit now and will just cross my fingers it all comes together nicely. First time builders, we have lived in current house for 18 years, we were signed up And scheduled for jan start but had some delays with our broker away but now have finance coming through. We were also delayed as it didn't meet 6 star energy ratings. We are regulars at the display measuring doors and windows and kitchen cupboards but all the delays hopefully have come to an end now. they have already started site works without our deposit being processed not sure if that was an error or normal but they said once finance goes through everything is set to start. And have meeting with our site supervisor this Friday so exciting times ahead. Re: Building Simonds rio 5Feb 21, 2016 6:00 pm Nice colours, I'm building with simonds too. I really like the Roseville facade Re: Building Simonds rio 6Feb 21, 2016 6:50 pm Thanks kylie It was hard as I haven't seen the facade on an actual house but it's the look I like . Which house are you building ? They hAve so many nice ones it came down to what what would fit in our block and we still had to tweak rio to fit Re: Building Simonds rio 8Feb 21, 2016 10:23 pm Both nice houses. Where are you Deanne? We just finished building the Avalon in Adelaide. Re: Building Simonds rio 10Feb 24, 2016 2:54 am Hi Deanne We are also building the Rio! And your story sounds exactly like mine. This is my first time on here and we also have to flip the house and twerk it a lil to fit. But we are only in the very early stages and still deciding any changes etc. How did you find the gallery selections? Im very excited to find someone else is building the Rio on here Re: Building Simonds rio 11Feb 25, 2016 6:36 am Oh how exciting . Gallery was nerve wracking at the start we had our eldest daughter and I was looking to her with colour advise and she pretty much said no you need to do this . I then spent the next month agonising over the colours but I am confident now and just keen for the build to start. The first gallery girl was great then tiles Mmmhhhh it was a Saturday and I felt like we were taking to her time everything was fast, electrical flew past. We had already added a gazillion to base price and managed to add another 30,000 our tiles were a shock. About double what we had originally. It's funny kitchen tap yep standard is fine, oohhhh shower for ensuite make that the dual deluxe thank you very much. We didn't add curtains I think we can get then a lot cheaper and they kindly said we can get quoted during build, sorry for the extended version then. Check things thoroughly at contract!!! Luckily we had delays with our finance which gave me time to go over that a million times and we have found a few things not as display some we can live with and some we changed. It's funny how 'we love the display as is build that' was changed, we also had our sales consultant leave the day after I paid deposit I had a few final questions from him so when I went up to see him I was like what? I just saw him yesterday umm so you mean he has gone for lunch? No he has left!!!! I know we were just another customer but no goodbye good luck this is the biggest scariest and most exciting thing you will ever do! Amy where is your build? Re: Building Simonds rio 15Feb 29, 2016 11:17 am Did you get the tablet? I can't seem to get the wifi to work. I'm an apple person, so I'm lost Building Simonds rio 17Mar 01, 2016 5:35 pm How exciting! The Rio seems similar to a bunch of different plans (palisade, sierra, Rathdowne). We just built the Rathdowne with a similar facade to yours, and we also have a similar courtyard area off the kitchen. Are you doing an alfresco? I'd suggest not to with that courtyard on the side, checkout our thread for pictures All the best! Can't wait to watch your house go up!
