Also with timber flooring by the time handover comes will there be a smell of the new timber ? Apparently it's not pleasant! [/quote] I'm not really sure because we did vinyl planks. Are there a lot or just a few but quite severe? There's lots of little things but a few that are big. The slab issues were not rectified and I got an email in response to my request for a refund for site costs saying all slab issues were rectified! We moved our house back 1.5m in order to have 2 rather than 5 steps at the porch but they've not actually dug deep enough and now there's space for 4 steps. Clarendon provided 3 and the SS said we have to fill in the gaps with landscaping ?! So seeing they saved money not digging down I think we should be refunded those costs saved. But now they're saying we need to landscape enough to alleviate the need for the 3rd and 4th step! It made me feel so ill in the stomach. Im about to send it to Clarendon and see what they come back with. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Re: Clarendon Madison 37 in The Grove 372Oct 07, 2016 4:54 am Far out. Would have preferred to finish your build on a higher note I'm sure! I hope Clare don't response is reasonable and they come to the party. Guessing that laundry noggin was for a dryer too... My private inspector told me to get everything in writing from the builder if they push back on any aspect. Then if they are refusing to budge have a joint meeting with your SS and the inspector. Really hope you get a good response Thanks. Yep noggin was for a dryer. I'm told it's not necessary. I don't care. I wanted it. Worst thing is we DID have a site meeting with several Clarendon people AND they put it in writing they'd fix the slab issues but then they covered it all up thinking we wouldn't notice viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Re: Clarendon Madison 37 in The Grove 374Oct 07, 2016 2:39 pm Whoah! Hope they sort it all for you Apparently it can be hung, just not as structurally sound. I am getting a refund but it's just not the point. I'm tired of asking for things, paying for them and Clarendon just doing their own thing but when they mess up they seem to just shrug or tell me somehow it was my fault or pretend it was /wasn't on the plans viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Re: Clarendon Madison 37 in The Grove 377Oct 08, 2016 8:30 pm MrsJM What b@stards! Maybe drop them an email with a link to your thread and that might get their bums into gear Thanks MrsJM. Builders seriously think we are dumb or blind or both. Maybe some people actually don't notice? I did get a surprise yesterday when the Clarendon slab supervisor showed up on my doorstep to look at the issues that were apparently fixed but obviously weren't. I think he seemed surprised. Still no admission of wrong doing on the slab heights but he did offer to put in fill in the front which may help the levels. I told him we have fill in the back to remove so maybe that will help with the back landscaping as they will excavate that. Still not happy we set our house back to avoid extra steps but got them anyway. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Clarendon Madison 37 in The Grove 378Oct 09, 2016 7:50 am Lee we have a similar experience with the step/fill issue! We now have a massive step off our alfresco and laundry that in our plan is level with the ground!? They also excavated into the back neighbours land by about a metre and not only is he cranky but now we need to retain it as it is so deep and created a massive hole! Why they would excavate so far from the house footprint seems weird to us. But not being knowledgable in this sort of stuff and first time builders you feel kind of railroaded. Seems that taking responsibility for it and other mistakes is an on going battle. I totally know what it feels like to be made to feel stupid/annoying when things that were stipulated in the tender and plans aren't done accordingly or completely missed altogether. It's so frustrating! Makes you wonder if it's your home sometimes not to mention the amount of money we've spent to have the things and finish we want. I've never once wanted anything more other than I've paid/stipulated for so why they make you feel that way is beyond me! The dryer noggin it's such a simple thing! I don't feel comfortable hanging it without it. What if it falls off! I may have to put mine in the garage but we don't have windows in there for ventilation. I'm going to have a proper read of your thread!
