While concrete homes which built europe post ww2 are still standing. I have been researching and multistory buildings are made from them and more built everyday. Read about ICF on www.yourhome.gov.au. Precast concrete is of course good but you would have to have all your plumbing and electrical pre-set into it and there is no room for change. Plus think of the thermal mass you will be holding on to if all your walls are built of exposed concrete. Re: CONCRETE TILT HOMES - MELBOURNE 6Feb 12, 2016 8:45 am mausam80 What do you mean come and gone? They keep rolling it back out every 30 years or so. Although 30 years ago the fad was esky - 1st storey extensions ..which now have proved problematic mausam80 I have been researching and multistory buildings are made from them and more built everyday. Read about ICF on http://www.yourhome.gov.au. Opinions are just that? Engineers deal with Data, analysis, simulations and proofs Over the next 30 years, more and more will probably fail...go figure mausam80 Precast concrete is of course good but you would have to have all your plumbing and electrical pre-set into it and there is no room for change. Plus think of the thermal mass you will be holding on to if all your walls are built of exposed concrete. You can cast cavities into precast concrete panels and they are still standing in parts of eastern europe. Ironically the soviets built their cheap housing and now they sell them their expensive gas. On the current engineering design data provided my simulations indicate NO! Invest your money wisely in selecting building material/components & compliance ..nobody likes to see their only asset diminish to block value only in 30 years time As a structural engineer that does repairs I see it trending all too often. Re: CONCRETE TILT HOMES - MELBOURNE 13Jun 12, 2018 9:18 pm Hey guys, I just went to an open house here in Brisbane countryside. House was made of concrete tilt panels and the structure was industrial steel beams. Looked fantastic. It is true, no one wants to build it so, I am thinking of going to the guys building warehouses from tilt panels to understand the costs etc. Anyone has experience or built a tilt panel home. Looked simple to me compared to conventional house and easy to work with the interiors. Any help would be appreciated as , I am actively looking for a builder. I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13256 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 14389 |
