Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 11, 2016 9:57 am We have had handover of our house, and some of the items on the handover list we have been advised they won't be correcting. Just interested in what you guys think. - We have a long vanity in our ensuite with 2 sinks. There is a set of drawers in the middle and cupboards on either side. On the plan (and what we wanted) the sinks were supposed to be installed close to the side of the drawers, so you're not standing too close to the wall. Also for safety because there are powerpoints on the side walls. Instead they have centered the sinks over the cupboard units - and now refusing to fix because that is what is standard. - Off white mortar requested - what we got is best described as off white with chunks of grey throughout - advised that this is normal - maybe it is? - Passage door, I asked to be aligned close to one side of the passage so I could leave it open, I was sent through an example which shows the door frame close up against the wall, which I agreed to. What we got - zero door frame on the nearest wall, so the door now sticks out weirdly when open due to the door stop. I know....small issues really, but it's frustrating moving in with things that aren't quite what you imagined! Re: Building complete - but some items are not as per plans. 2Feb 11, 2016 10:10 am If they are as per your plan I'm not sure you have any ammo to get them to hangs it. Asking for things to be one way doesn't really work if not part of the contract. Re: Building complete - but some items are not as per plans. 3Feb 12, 2016 9:37 am The vanity sinks are definitely not installed as per the plan, unfortunately I am not getting anywhere with the builder at the moment and it seems the only thing I can do is to lodge a complaint with OCBA (we are in SA), I'm not sure what the success rate of doing that is but I have to try. Advise you want the house built as per the plan, not what is 'standard' as you made a change to deviate from standard. Then you can have a much smaller door stop, and the door should sit pretty much right against the wall when open. 1) I had requested R6 ceiling insualtion batts, however I noticed that on some areas there are huge gaps which will allow hot air to sweep in, and also noticed black/grey… 0 3596 My door tends to rub against the frame during winter and I'm looking to fix it so it closes smoothly.
