Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 06, 2016 4:23 pm Hey everyone, after a long year of stalking/reading/studying this site as well as the various builds i am officially ready to join and contribute in any way i can. I signed my contract with Metricon about 2 months ago and have just finished my 2 days of selections (colour, electrical and tiling) so glad these are over as the decisions were so very hard . Now although I'm very excited about this build I am also very scared. I am not only a first home builder and owner i am a single mother doing it. Yes i know I'm crazy LOL I'm also a full-time university student and work full-time. I want my posts to inspire others who think they can't do it because they don't fit the typical mould of building a house (single persons, single parents or people who simply think that they can't do it). I'm not going to lie its been a long road to get to this point and there have been quite a few tears (i'm sure there are still more to come LOL) but it can be done with perserveerance and a little HOME ONE stalking hehe.. For those interested i will start uploading my electrical selections and prices, house plans, house inclusions selections and prices, photo's and anything else i think may help others or me hehe. I am so excited to start this journey with Metricon and build my dream house The Rialto 35 in Brisbane for my son and I. I hope you enjoy my posts and i look forward to hopefully meeting others on this same journey. Re: Metricon Rialto 35 Build in Brisbane 3Feb 06, 2016 4:32 pm Welcome! Would love to see all your selection, plan and progress pics, and I feel your fear! I'm also building my first home although not for a few months yet, as a single lady while working and studying fulltime - but I don't have to manage all that and a kid!! Have you been following Tribe7's build, I believe it's the same plan: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76704 Have you got a plan for getting your own inspector and for how many stages of the build? I'm thinking of going the whole hog and getting the 5 stage for my own peace of mind as I know stuff all about building. Best of luck on your build Coral Homes Avoca 20, Providence, Ripley QLD Re: Metricon Rialto 35 Build in Brisbane 4Feb 06, 2016 5:14 pm Thanks guys, my block is due to register end of May (would make a nice bday pressie for me since my nday is the 30th). Watto82 im thinking the same in regards for getting an inspection every stage of the build (expensive but i think worth it in the long run) iv heard to many horror stories ? and yes i have been following Tribes build the house is gorgeous and their blog has basically been the bible to me 😉. What stages are you guys at.. has construction started yet? Re: Metricon Rialto 35 Build in Brisbane 7Feb 06, 2016 6:35 pm Also we are doing stage inspections....no way I'd know if everything was spot on unless it's blaringly obviously wrong! Figure it's worth the $2k! I'm soooo impressed by you gals...I'm struggling with a husband (a giant sized baby) a job and this building ****...I take my hat off to you! Girl power I totally agree deejay08 us women can only do so much hehe.. I say spend the money its worth it in the long run. Think of it this way $2000 is better than $20 000 . I can' wait to see pictures of your new house... and yes those big babies are sometimes the worst hehe.. Re: Metricon Rialto 35 Build in Brisbane 12Aug 29, 2016 5:41 pm hi dulie, yes the contract is signed and my land has FINALLY registered. I'm now waiting for council approval and then its all systems go go go. I'm thinking i might have a slab by the end of next month. How are things going on your end? Re: Metricon Rialto 35 Build in Brisbane 14Sep 06, 2016 1:03 pm Nice! Where abouts in Brisbane are you building? I just got rid of the existing house on my block of land today.
