Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Rawson Benham 30 in Sydney 21Mar 18, 2016 10:14 am More delays on our site. Most of our Hebel columns had to be knocked down and rebuilt due to them not being done correctly. I'm getting so frustrated with this build! There was so much booked in for this week but it's been pushed back. Gyprock was supposed to happen but it's been pushed back which in turn has pushed back the stairs, kitchen, bathroom etc. Also Hebel problems has pushed the timber deck on the veranda!!! Was the problem picked up by your SS or did you spot it yourself? Re: Building a Rawson Benham 30 in Sydney 24Mar 18, 2016 10:58 am That's really disappointing to know that trades would leave the job thinking the effort was acceptable. This is becoming the norm in most trades I'm afraid. Was the trade a carpenter or brick layer? Hebel is more a 'wood' than 'masonry' type product that may leave the job open to other trades not usually involved in external finishes. using Tapatalk Edge39.my-letter-box.com Re: Building a Rawson Benham 30 in Sydney 25Mar 18, 2016 11:03 am Steve, neither. Hebel is installed by a qualified Hebel installer. As far as I know, anybody can do the Hebel training and become an installer. With a shortage of brickies Hebel has really taken off. I don't think the quality control was there. My Hebel guy was sacked and new Hebel guys came in to finish. The mistakes found was from the first contractor. Re: Building a Rawson Benham 30 in Sydney 26Mar 18, 2016 4:38 pm Oh gawd...we were looking into hebel but I wasn't confident of it being installed by a qualified installer. It's supposed to make the first stage go faster! I hope it all goes better from here Jimbo! Re: Building a Rawson Benham 30 in Sydney 28Apr 04, 2016 7:43 am I understand and share your frustration. We have had similar structural issues in our build. Lack of common sense from some of these trades. We got an independent inspector who has documented all the issues we saw and he found a lot more, most small issues. One or two bigger issues but nothing dangerous or can't be fixed. We sent the report to the SS and he will follow up on every item. This has given me a bit of piece of mind about the build. Just wondering if you have photos to share please? We have bought those big tiles as well, yet to be laid in our main family/living area.
