Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2016 10:37 am We are signing contracts with Metricon tomorrow which is really exciting but scary too. Apparently we will receive our contract and plans later today to review prior to the signing tomorrow. Is this normal? I feel like this is a bit late to be giving us an adequate opportunity to really look the plans properly. Has anyone had an experience where something is incorrect on the contract or plans and signing? Will this be later addressed as a variation? I would appreciate some thoughts on this? Don't forget to check out our blog, where I'll be posting pics of my plans once I finally get them ? - https://metriconhenderson.wordpress.com Re: Metricon Contract 2Feb 02, 2016 1:43 pm M and T We are signing contracts with Metricon tomorrow which is really exciting but scary too. When it's contract day they go through your contract thoroughly with you, any concerns through the process address it immediately. This day is the final day to make any variations, we didn't get charged. We thought it would be stressful but thank god it was a smooth sailing process, our consultant was patient with us and did variations for things that were overlooked through each step. Thank goodness we noticed that day. Just take your time and Good luck for tomorrow viewtopic.php?t=79203 Re: Metricon Contract 3Feb 02, 2016 3:10 pm Thank you Emmz70 ! That is very reassuring. Just another question though, when you signed your contract had you selected any internal upgrades or electricals or did you do that post contract signing? Thanks Again!! Just another question though, when you signed your contract had you selected any internal upgrades or electricals or did you do that post contract signing? Thanks Again!! All these should have been done before the final contract. Because they go through your electrical and internal selections with you. This must be your preliminary contract? $1000 deposit? viewtopic.php?t=79203 Re: Metricon Contract 5Feb 02, 2016 6:18 pm Hi Emmz70, We did the preliminary contract last year after a $2000 deposit and paid $4000 three months ago for this contract. Maybe they've changed the order that they do things or maybe we're in different states? We're building in NSW. I think Metricon must be very busy at the moment because it has taken about 3 months since we paid our $4000 to get to our contract appointment tomorrow and they were supposed to email me everything today for review and that didn't happen. It's so surprising that they're this disorganised?? I wonder if anyone else is going through similar contract delays with Metricon? Re: Metricon Contract 6Feb 02, 2016 6:56 pm Maybe it is different with states as we are located in Melbourne. Service is basically the same as yours though because I checked your link We signed up June last year and we had so many errors and variations added during our journey that they had to revert us back to prelim. We almost gave up on M at this point and decided that if our new prelim had any errors we would cancel. In this time we had our internal and electrical appointments and the consultants were brilliant also Lucky for M they got it right this time. We then stayed with them paid further $4000 to get plans updated. Our contract time was same date as ours @ the time but we pushed it to 18th Jan because we scrutinised everything in prelim contract. Any variations we made from Dec-Jan we checked as well, knowing it would be in final one. In Jan they sent us copies days before signing and we just compared final contract to prelim one and variation copies. Just incase they missed anything but it was correct. We then created a list of last minute things we wanted to add and hoped they would accept it. Contract day we were a little nervous but all our fears were put to rest when they went through contract in detail. Because we initial every page if we agree if we don't they can adjust on the spot. At the end of contract we asked about the additional things we wanted and they created the variations for what we requested (no charge) for changes. Contract day is the last time to make requests after this they charge $2000. Also the day we say bye to the balance of 5% The day was excellent and felt much happier with M All our variations were sent to us couple days later and now everything is complete successfully. Now it's the waiting game because our land titles in June. Best of luck for tomorrow and I hope to follow your thread once your journey begins. viewtopic.php?t=79203 Re: Metricon Contract 7Feb 02, 2016 8:51 pm Wow, you've had a long journey too to get to your final contract! It's reassuring to know we're not the only ones with lots of variations also. It's so important to sign a contract that's as accurate as possible. Thanks for your responses, they've been extremely helpful! Will update my blog once we have our appointment tomorrow. Fingers crossed it all goes as well as yours did! Hope you post some pics once your build starts ? https://metriconhenderson.wordpress.com Re: Metricon Contract 9Apr 04, 2016 5:06 pm nuno Metricon went through a restructure last year and everything was disorganised as a result. I built with Metricon before in 2009 and built again late 2015. It was more painful the second time around. Oh really. I do know Melbourne head office went through restructuring end of last year so hopefully things settle down now. So far haven't been disappointed with our newly assigned people, hopefully come build time it won't happen to our SM You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16455 Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
