Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 01, 2016 9:19 am Hi all, Our house is close to finished...PCI this week. Our build has been 14 months (plus 14 months design phase!) so far and the dishwasher was delivered to the cabinet makers almost 6 months ago; the freestanding cooker almost 3 months ago. We paid for and supplied these appliances ourselves outside of the contract. We had an integrated panel on the dishwasher and that was why the cabinet makers needed it. And there is a long story about why we were delayed from having handover before Christmas (( So, my question is about the warranty time that we have already lost on our appliances...is there any recourse regarding this with my builder and is this even normal practice in a custom designed home? Thanks in advance. Re: No handover yet but appliances have been in for months 2Feb 01, 2016 9:27 am Some manufactures will commence warranty from the date of commissioning rather than the date of purchase, so if you explain the situation with them and provide proof that you did not have handover of the house, they may commence your warranty from your handover date. Maybe have a chat with them. Always communicate via email! Re: No handover yet but appliances have been in for months 3Feb 01, 2016 10:47 am Thanks for that advice @E563. I have called Miele and they have kindly agreed to cover our dishwasher from move in date....great customer service there! I am now waiting for a call back from Ilve (they were busy) to find out if they will do the same as Miele for our cooker and range hood.
