Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 31, 2016 7:19 am Dear Friends
I am planning to build a new home and gone through display homes and contacted few builders. After all this homework I am planning to go with Plantation homes as I likes the floor plan and the agent who is dealing us is helpful and make all the changes we want in the floor plan. But now I read other people views on this forum which makes me confused and makes me to think again. Please share your experiences and suggestions are welcome .Thanks Re: Building New Home 2Jan 31, 2016 7:19 am Dear Friends I am planning to build a new home and gone through display homes and contacted few builders. If so be aware most of the larger builders have threads containing complaints and mentioning issues. If you are happy that you've done your research and the salesperson at Plantation is giving you all the information, being upfront with pricing, and accomodating your needs for your new home, then don't worry too much about issues on here, just take them under advisement to make sure you check out those things during the process. Have you gotten full price quotes/ tenders elsewhere? Until you sign the contract maybe some peace of mind might be gained by finding a floorplan you like elsewhere and seeing how their pricing and service compares. Personally I have not heard of any huge issues with Plantation, and was considering them myself up to a point as their floorplans are common sense and they have nice quality luxury-feel touches and features. Please share your experiences and suggestions are welcome .Thanks I think the things to pay the most attention to when looking for a builder are how issues get handled if issues arise, general scheduling of trades (ie: are they scheduled back-to-back or are there long gaps of no activity on site?), general admin stuff (are the people you need to deal with easy to communicate with?), and how open are they to changing plans and other things you want? As far as workmanship goes, that varies a lot by who they hire and I wouldn't go solely on that. Where abouts in Brisbane are you building? Re: Building New Home in Brisbane 7Jan 31, 2016 8:48 pm We had an issue with Plantation in Brisbane. I found their customer service and follow up extremely poor. They didn't call us for 4 weeks after we cancelled our contract to ask why. That being said, the quality of their homes is excellent and they are priced well. We built with Simonds in west Brisbane and use Dave from Jims Building Inspections as our inspector - both have been excellent. Building a modified Simonds Palisade in Brentwood Forest.
