Browse Forums Building A New House Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Ready for site cut 82May 03, 2016 10:34 pm Plumbing and Electrical is in. There was nobody on site today, and due to some changes at Henley we have new Admin and SS, neither of which we have been able to get a hold of. Fingers crossed they are back out there tomorrow. Currently we're living on the other side of Melbourne, so only really get to take a look at the block once a week. No photos unfortunately, but hopefully we'll see some real progress by the weekend. MainVue Amalfi 532 - Ready for site cut 83May 03, 2016 10:48 pm Hmmmm, I wonder what's happening at Henley's now.... Hope all is good there. We've only ever spoken to our construction admin once and that was the initial introductory call. SS doesn't call but he seems to be around. They update the portal weekly with what's happening but we usually see it ourselves before they do. We go past everyday on the way to school/work so we are lucky in that respect What colours are you using inside and out?. Did I miss this somewhere on your thread? Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Ready for site cut 84May 04, 2016 7:02 am I know they can be pretty elusive, which would be fine if I wasn't trying to arrange our Pre-Slab inspection. Darbecca has the details of the old SS, but I need to get the contact details for the new one so they can make arrangements. This is my problem with Henley; their communication and customer service is pretty poor. We always find that the Admins wait right until the end of the day (their shift) to return our calls or emails (of which we would have sent first thing in the morning), so we don't get the opportunity to call them straight back to discuss. For them it's just a job, but for me this is a big investment, and also my home. Of course I'm going to want to be able to talk through my queries every now and then. Anyway, rant over. Our Facade is Eclipse, but we're deleted the render and gone with 50mm bricks. The brick we chose was the Daniel Robertson Apricot Blend. We've also gone for a Colorbond roof in Basalt. We're using Surfmist as our window and external doors along with the Fascia. We're going for an all white affair inside (walls, ceiling, timber). We'll be having Jazz Tusk Lopatto tiles in the bathrooms and powder rooms, and a thin white tile laid in a herringbone pattern as the kitchen splashback. We're also using the nougat stone bench tops, with the 40mm return. We're doing the floors after handover, and we're using solid Blackbutt timber. We opted to modify the living area to extend to where the Alfresco would be in a normal build, and then extended to the Grand Alfresco so that we still have an alfresco area out the back (I put a plan on page 1 which shows how this works). We've also added 2 sets of bifold doors to the back of the house, which should allow us to open that area right up in the warm weather. It'll give us a much bigger living area for entertaining. We also opted for the raised ceiling height. Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Ready for site cut 85May 04, 2016 9:00 am Hopefully your new admin and SS kick into gear. I havn't experienced those issues - my admin gets back to me straight away most of the time, same with our SS. It must seem like such a long time has passed since you made all those decisions. It will be so good to see your plans come to life at last. Good luck! Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Slab Prep 88May 04, 2016 4:10 pm Yep, colour appointment was 10 months ago, so it's been a long time in the making Our SS tells me that concreter to prepare the slab by the weekend, with a slab pour tentatively scheduled for Monday. So it'll all he happening next week Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Slab Prep 93May 08, 2016 5:10 pm Looking good!! Will keep my fingers crossed for you. I went there for the pre-slab inspection, and the concreter was there, but he didn't like the look of the weather so the downed tools and took off. It looked like they might have been able to do it for a couple of hours, then the weather rolled in very quickly and bucketed down. Lucky they made the call to cancel the pour, as it would have washed down the street in that rain! I'm guessing that means no roof for you either? Re: MainVue Amalfi 532 - Slab Prep 99May 10, 2016 1:25 pm It's def bad timing with all the weather we're having lately. Don't get nervous at the size of the slab - you may scratch your head wondering if half the rooms are big enough. Ours looked so much smaller than they actually are when it was just a slab Thanks for much mate. I see that you do cabinets before flooring.
