Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 189Jun 12, 2016 5:49 pm Thanks Synde, yeah timber will be delivered on Tuesday frames to start Wednesday, I think we had "s"soil we are all sand. But as we have a water table under our house due to wetlands and beach being so close they had to upgrade slab and add piers. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81627&p=1505759#p1505759 Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 190Jun 12, 2016 6:29 pm Melbourne's soils are so good unlike Brisbane. Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 191Jun 12, 2016 10:03 pm Yeah we scored pretty good with our site costs especially for a KDR...what is your soil like where your building? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81627&p=1505759#p1505759 Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 192Jun 13, 2016 4:23 pm It's clayey soils. A lot of movement - h2 classification Sorry to crash your thread Jane but Modern you are not alone with that type of soil. We are bayside Melbourne and have heavy clay soil too and needed about 60 piers, some up to 2.7m deep. viewtopic.php?t=81336 Building with MainVue - Modified Ivory 436...our journey Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 194Jun 13, 2016 9:37 pm Modern12349 It's clayey soils. A lot of movement - h2 classification Yeah ouch! My place is only 400m from the beach as Libby said her place and others that are further back get this clay soil, we have a water table about 1500mm under our block due to the wetlands behind us and the beach In front so we still had piers and reinforcements to protect the slab from the tidal movements even though sand absorbs anyway...tad overkill we thought but better that way than not I suppose viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81627&p=1505759#p1505759 Re: Our build- Henley, Monaco lux 2 in bayside Melbourne KDR 195Jun 13, 2016 9:38 pm Saint Girl Modern12349 It's clayey soils. Timber got delivered yesterday and I'm heading back down that way tomorrow to check out some progress of the frame but with this rain it may not be a lot. Still its going to schedule which is great! Was so good to be able to walk through with all the external walls up and get a good feel of the space. And so far the frame is very neat and straight m. Husband is super happy being a carpenter himself I think that's been a huge relief!!
