Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 622May 05, 2017 9:57 pm Great news about the bricks! And good work picking up the mistake! Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 623May 06, 2017 10:26 am And they have delivered more bricks with different colour. We are having bag and paint for the front porch area... so don't think we needed too much light colour bricks. They may have given too many light colour bricks by mistake. Should be more darker colour bricks. Have to check with SS on Monday. I got a 2nd batch already, probably due to restricted material storage area and once the brickies move them around the site there will be more room for the next batch(es) Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 629May 11, 2017 12:17 am There are too many projects that I have started and not complete yet. Just trying to restart is major hurdle or an excuse not to do. For example... 1. Ottoman to finish off - currently youngest son is using one of the cushion foam as bedhead... as his mattress is on the floor. He refuse to setup his bed frame up when we moved into current place. 2. Got some painting on canvas started and not finish... livingroom too small to do painting and hubby don't like the smell of oil paint 3. Orchids need to re pot and divide... most of these orchids are at mum's place ... 4. Bromelaid need to divided and pot up... no room to place pots in the courtyard 5. Need to go through boxes in the garage to reassemble chandelier as this was disassemble for easy packing 6. Still need to make major decision on tiles or timber for ground floor...I should visit display show rooms for better ideas 7. Murraya trees at the back needs trimming... in order to get to murraya trees I have to move all my pot plants sitting underneath murraya... and my knees are not in good shape to move all pots. 8. Wanted to weather proof side of pergola at current place My small world problems. Tiles just last so long and has relatively easy maintenance. In terms of labour I feel as though it would have taken more effort and time to lay tiles, but that's really only because we felt we shouldn't have paid extra for timber flooring in lieu of tiles. Plus timber can be added ontop down the track. Sorry this doesn'tt help - but I sort of felt like we should of done tiles instead. We just liked the feel and look of a timber product so went with it Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 631May 12, 2017 8:27 pm Hey Shazaw, Has anything happened on your site this week? We have had no work done, and no contact from the SS. Just hoping he hasn't quit on us too. Have you heard from him this week? Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 632May 12, 2017 10:53 pm The_Joneses Hey Shazaw, Has anything happened on your site this week? We have had no work done, and no contact from the SS. Just hoping he hasn't quit on us too. Have you heard from him this week? I have texted him Wed, Thurs, and today as well as called him twice...only one text message returned. Asked him why there was too much of lighter colour bricks and when the bricking will be starting. He only reply to lighter colour bricks, which will be use for bag and paint. He did not mention anything about when bricking will start. shortage of tradies???...perhaps next week! May be SS is waiting for brick layers from ecch's site or trimum... I just wait for one more week and start cracking whip at head office. Hope they start soon I'm all good... just as long as they start working some time this week. No action on site today. Checked out some flooring products last weekend for ground floor....Quick Step Laminate, Timber and Vinyl. Hubby wanted more timber looks as for me... very wishy washy between tiles and timber. Once tiles are in its will be very hard to rip up. Real timber are more costly, show scratch and dent easily. I do find Vinyl very thin, If the concrete floor is not perfect the Vinyl flooring will shows bumpy effects. So we will be going towards Laminate less expensive than real timber. We have NOT finalise yet but we are more leaning towards Quick Step Laminate Impressive Ultra, more durable, scratch resistance, and a little bit more water proof. Floor area in the hall way, kitchen, especially an area between kitchen island bench and alfresco will have very high traffic... Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 It's such a difficult decision isn't it? We have gone with all tiles in living areas and carpet in bedrooms and upstairs lounge. Burbank are doing the tiles and we will get all the carpet done after handover. I couldn't decide for ages, I'm not a fan of tiles really but couldn't decide on all the timber and laminate/vinyl choices so went for the easier option, even now I'm not that happy with my tile choices.
