Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 921Sep 14, 2017 10:10 pm SOMETHING DIFINITELY WRONG!!! Only two days ago SS drained out water from service pipe and I recheck again last night and there is water in the service pipe. Where is this water coming from? Is there a leak.... If there the main water pipe is leaking than my kitchen would be flooded by now. SS better recheck! Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 925Sep 14, 2017 11:37 pm Looked at the photo again...sorry the floaty bits made me think it was a jelly like substance at first. Definitely ask before kitchen comes in Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 926Sep 15, 2017 10:13 am Ok this morning plasterboard guys are back. Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 928Sep 15, 2017 6:09 pm Such great progress Shazaw, wow they have really moved on with the inside!! Did you get an independent inspection done? We should have ours on Sunday via email I think it will be interesting reading. Did you get an independent inspection done? We should have ours on Sunday via email I think it will be interesting reading. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 As you know we also had many SS too. They all have different attitudes, the very first one didn't like to see me popping up to site too often (because I popped up often picked up on wrong stormwater pipe requested by council), some temps SS just do one job than moved out to another company. I'm always on site to see almost everything is happening and always checking/ questioning littles things that I feels not right directly to the tradies and cross checking with my builder friend (retired). The last SS and current one I feel very confident with the work they are doing and as I have mentioned early i'm always checking. It is a good thing that there are changes of SS for my site... I do approach to each new SS by simply playing dumb and questions them and point out faults and defects. Just example ," oh I already had a walk through with previous SS... I saw this timber is damage , will it be replace , should the plumbing pipe be here like this" , and they do explain to me how things works. Between the last two SS I'm confident with the works they have done. So we didn't go with our own Independent Inspection. Last Thursday they (builder) had they own Independent Inspection. I will have to check with SS about it. I get calls or updates once a week. Only happened first 3 weeks when new SS started the job. I do hope we have made the right choice by not getting our own independent inspection for our house. We both feels ( hubby and me) we don't needs to get one as things were getting fixed. of course there are still problems with roof still not finish, pillars rendering not complete and ( they did not even mention that they are doing rendering instead of bag and paint as per contract - why did they do rendering is to cover the darker bricks to complete pillars ) to me this is a big change. Every stage had a problem, to me every problems have a solution to fix. Let just hope for the next 3-4 weeks there will be no rain... with some open roof area plasterboards will be damaged by rain water. Sometimes I also think as they are new in NSW, they want to do some things extra or better to build up their reputation. So maybe that's why you have the front rendered? Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 931Sep 16, 2017 4:38 pm Drop by to site this afternoon To have my Saturday ritual ... go to site sit around and day dream. But could not do that today ... one plaster guy working on cornices. I'm happy that one person working on site on Saturday . More Roof tiles are delivered. Now I'm puzzle by the water tap height for fridge. 190 cm from floor.... Is this normal height? We are having cabinet on top of the fridge space and feels this water taps is too high. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 932Sep 16, 2017 9:12 pm This week we started shopping around for flooring products. For ground floor we needed product with scratch resistance, water resistance, easy to maintain. So we found two comparable laminate companies with similar qualities. 1. Quick Step Laminate - Majestic Range - Desert Oak Brushed Grey https://www.quick-step.com.au 2. Berry Alloc Laminate - Grand Avenue - Via Veneto http://www.easytimberflooring.com.au After checking out with suppliers, we found prices are almost same after adding up all costs. Not without a little hiccup.... how level is our concrete floor. If our concrete slab is not level than installer will have to level concrete slab with leveling products which will cost around $80 to $100 per bag ( mixed and leave on the slab for 24 hours to have uneven slope level ), how many bags we needs will be determined by installer. The question is.... Should we use this product or tries to level slab with cement OR should we demand from builder to make concrete slab level. But I believe this a guide only, and the actual requirement is in the BCA if it's listed....and I'm not sure if it is http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/biz_r ... rances.pdf some independent inspectors can do this check Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 934Sep 17, 2017 8:01 pm ehhc There is a tolerance with floor levels in the NSW guide to standards and tolerances (page22). Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 936Sep 17, 2017 8:36 pm Drop by to check out the actual measurement for our driveway shape and size, hubby and I were having a little disagreement in front of garage and from corner of my eyes saw a head pop out behind garage bricks wall .... shock to see one guy working on cornices in the garage. lol I didn't realise someone was working on Sunday and having my little tantrum for losing my garden space due to hubby wanted to increase the width of driveway. I found our Corinthian entry door is 3 hinge setup, but the metal a&l frame used 4 hinges. Maybe after that whinging I did about the wrong frame wouldn't have mattered since they would have had to change it anyway LOL We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 36901 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18894 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13301 |
