Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 1521Jun 07, 2018 9:52 pm Zero sign of handover!! Water filter under kitchen sink installed yesterday. Toilet for master ensuite the lid is not attached. Two cleaners were cleaning inside the house yesterday but after checking around today, they didn't do a good job. Not happy. I just don't understand their game. The house is finished. How long are they going to take to get paper works sorted out !!!!! Next week Laminate Timber flooring start on Tuesday. Carpet for first floor will be the following week. Landscaper going to finish off what I didn't finish at the front ... top soil and grass for nature strip. He will also start on planter box for port wine magnolia at the front. Right now we are not sure if HO having problem finding certificates or just "certifier's way of working is peculiar" as per SS. Going to email to Area Manager, SS and to the person at the very top. Trimum, both you and I really wants to get over with this build. We are so fed up. Looks like your landscape is going to finish before your home!!! At this rate, we will finish flooring for upstairs and ground floor before we get handover. As for landscaping we still needs to find the right kind of Lilly Pilly. My landscaper live two blocks away from my townhouse so he going to move larger pot plants for me tomorrow. Once these pots are moved to build site, I can start to clean with "Gerni" for court yard. That's at lease one day job. What's on your shortlist? I have two varieties of Syzygium australe; Aussie southern -issues with psyllid so I have to treat with confidor tablets +Absolute top performer. Large leaf, dense and shiny almost camelia japonica perfect foliage Resilience - slow growing - more susceptible to neglect, needy of water + No issues with psyllid + Similar camelia type foliage + Better colour than Aussie southern Weeping Lily pilly Cascade ; Syzygium cross leuhmanii and wilsonii - quite fragile branching - quite susceptible to sun burn, quite thirsty + The best colour I have ever seen in a LP + Appears to be quite quick to grow + No psyllid issues + Hands down the showiest of the lot, vigourous and imo probably the best hedge all year round I'd definitely tip the cascade to anyone considering a LP as a feature or hedge. How wide are the garden beds? And are they the same width in the front and the back yards? The garden bed at the backyard very far back is 2.5 meters by 11 meters and the skinny long box on the side is 1.2 meters by 15 meters. The front one is 90 cm by 9 meters. I noticed you said you were cleaning the garage ready for painting is that for the floor?? We want to paint the garage floor too but not sure what to use, I think we have ruled out doing the epoxy floor but now looking into painting it, what prep did you have to do? Did you have to seal it or use acid washes etc? Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 1538Jun 17, 2018 9:47 pm trimum Wow you are really getting on with things! We want to paint the garage floor too but not sure what to use, I think we have ruled out doing the epoxy floor but now looking into painting it, what prep did you have to do? Did you have to seal it or use acid washes etc? We got Berger Jet dry 10L Heavy Duty gross, for garage floor. 10L will cover 2 car garage. ( that what they say) We decided to stay away from acid washes as it can soften concrete if incorrectly used. As we are not professional handyman or handy-woman best not to go near acid wash. Instruction were given from the paint consultant. 1. sweep and clean garage floor. 2. combe over and scrap off any lumpy plasters and concrete. 3. sweep again 4. fill in with cement if any holes in the garage. 5. wash off heavy clay dirt from floor ( this is where I'm up to now) 6. first coat ...due to cold weather leave to dry for at least 3days... 2 days should be enough 7. second coat ...paint after three days from first coat and leave it for another 3 days. do not drive on it for two weeks. I think we will only be able to do one coat though. We plan to prepare and paint on Friday ready for moving day next Monday. We probably won’t be using the garage to park the cars in very much. We got a big 10 litre tin and smaller 5litre just in case we run out! Re: KDR Sekisui House - St George 1540Jun 18, 2018 7:15 am I need to research that bergers jet dry now haha. I was going to just use that rust-oleum rock solid kit. Did you guys look into this one? Any reason why it’s no good? All garage shelving has been put on hold until Driveway, then floor painting/sealing is done. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37142 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19097 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13443 |
