Anyway, life has continued on and with it comes more house stuff. My husband escalated things a few weeks ago to higher management so we have had the head manager of Geelong Metricon and one of the highest building managers overseeing our build. I had to do a walkthrough today myself as hubby can't take time off new job and they have fixed most of the inspector issues and some of ours but there are still things to be done. * Renderers gave up come back to finish front piers (properly and not just messily around the balustrade brackets) * stairs need holes filled and second coat of stain (is it normal for holes to be filled after first coat, we thought it would have been done before!? * chipped tile to laundry and on balcony needs to be replaced. They were trying to do quick fix options to them but hubby is going to push them to replace them * grout very thick at top of shower walls. Hubby wants them pulled off and fixed too but I'm worried removing shower screens etc will just make more mess than it's worth!? * feature bricks need to be re painted after acid wash washing away paint and seeing a lot of red brick through it * lots of paint touch ups still * side panels to kitchen island need to be replaced due to chips * island Benchtops has a few marks and also small chip along edge which I think they are going to sand!?!? $4k upgrade so better not screw it up!!! * rear roller door to be replaced due to dent and scratches * dent/scratches to stacker door frame Don't think our inspector will be able to come back next Friday to do reinspection!!! Think handover could still be a good 3 weeks away yet!? Opinions on cat 1 caper and being able to see where all the nails that secure it into place are and can feel the sharp spikes by lightly touching there. I'm so worried about the kids stepping on them when going to toilet/bathroom!!!! Can you return and get a refund on the house?? Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2468Apr 13, 2017 11:49 pm They wanted to get safety barrier down so that they could plaster under porch and paint etc so they installed the glass balustrades before the render had been done to the top part of piers that had been extended. Rather than detaching the brackets they tried to go around them and made a complete mess of it! The brackets have been loosened and supposedly they will fix it up nice and neat but i don't know how good it will turn out without actually taking the balustrades down completely!?!?! Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2469Apr 13, 2017 11:53 pm That's just terrible workmanship, no idea how anyone could be satisfied if that was their handy work! Our SM removed the balustrades so the renderer can complete his job for our pillar and reattach the balustrades..... Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2471Apr 14, 2017 8:43 am I wouldn't be happy with the quality of work. Carpet and rendering should be fixed. Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2474Apr 19, 2017 7:26 am I hope you can get this fixed Kylz! Welcome to our new Metricon Henderson http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81978 https://metriconhenderson.wordpress.com Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2475Apr 19, 2017 7:35 am Thanks guys. Hubby had a walk through with manager above our site manager last night, finished at about 8pm! Went over everything with him that we are concerned about. I had to palm it off to hubby as I'm not in a place to fight with them right now! Render should be fixed properly, the brackets for balustrade will slide all the way back so they can fix up in under them. The carpet will be replaced in two areas that it's been cut a bit short and they will get the guys to try and bang down the sharp nails a bit. He is going to meet painters on site today to go through everything and tell them to touch up areas properly not just paint over them and to repaint whole walls if a few stickers on there and light will hit it directly as that's when you can see paint patch ups. He said everything should be finished by Friday but to book the private inspector for Wednesday next week to make sure and he's confident for handover next weekend. We will see Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2476Apr 19, 2017 10:54 am Getting so close now, hope it all goes well =) Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2478Apr 19, 2017 10:09 pm Thanks guys! Doesn't feel real that we will ever actually get in there lol I was just like that Did the PCI on Thursday and they said will fix minor issues the following week and do the handover by mid-week... then got a call on Friday afternoon that all issues are fixed and can do the handover by 5 pm... It won't feel real even after you moved in Looking forward to more happy news... Re: Building Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Geelong 2480Apr 21, 2017 9:23 pm kylz4 Lol yes I think so Orph! A question about the toilets Kylz? So they should be screwed in? By any chance you have a pic of a good one compared to silicone one and is this standard?? I remember our inspector picked this up earlier in the build and our SM mentioned something about this.
