Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 15, 2016 12:12 am Hi everyone on Homeone! After about a year of stalking this thread and copying and pasting everything into a massive list - myself and DH have finally put a deposit down on a lovely block in Eden Beach. Very exciting, especially since we are Irish so living by the beach in the sun really is the dream!!! We're currently in talks with HGWA, Summit and Plunkett as we have a custom two storey design. Hopefully we will be getting quotes back net week so we can make a decision. Like a lot of people on this forum I'm extremely OCD about everything so have lists and folders all over the place for various things! Hopefully pre-start will be a breeze because I already know everything I want haha We're getting married in Ireland in April 2017 so really hoping to be in by then, even if it's just the day before we fly out - I'll take it!! But not getting my hopes up just in case I've read loads from other H1-ers about what a long process the admin / shire approval side of things was for them so I just wondered if anyone who has built in Eden Beach could shed some light on how ling their approvals etc actually took and what else we can expect with that estate that I might not know? Any info would be really helpful!! Thanks! Re: Double Storey in Eden Beach 4Apr 13, 2016 10:02 pm Haha thanks very much! we actually got similar feedback from a few people about HGWA and even their admin process for quoting was way longer than others so that put me off straight away. The guy actually said to us "we have such a backlog of plans" and that set off alarms bells!! Anyway we eventually signed with Plunkett Homes. All good so far, they're lovely to work with. The process of waiting for everything is sooo frustrating though. weeks go by with nothing new! now i know what everyone was talking about on this forum! Re: Double Storey in Eden Beach 6May 06, 2016 12:23 pm Oh wow that is a frustratingly long wait! It's the worst part, seems that weeks pass by and nothing happens. our current status is that we've done structural prestart and the bank has assessed everything so planning to settle by next week. after that i'm told it will a few weeks before prestart and then 6-8 weeks of 'scheduling' and . we'll be lucky to get slab down by July i'd say! having said that we did have delays due to misunderstandings in our quote, where Plunkett had not included things we asked to be included and then tried to charge us for it it's sorted now but for a while it made me really nervous to have such a big mistake at such an early stage! i know everyone finds the long admin process frustrating, but the scheduling time-frame seems the craziest. My partner is a carpenter and a roofer and works with builders all the time. They always manage to order materials based on plans in a matter of days, sometimes the same day so not sure why big builders take to long, especially when they're form a standard range anyway! i know they obviously have a lot of clients at once, but still - seems backwards! 1 4581 Hi Kristy Around $1.7-1.8m or around $4,600/sqm. if you PM me your email I will send you a break up in a spreadsheet so you can get an understanding of the costs for… 1 9952 I built with EB back on 2009.
