Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 14, 2016 8:02 pm Hello,
So im in a predicament. We are building a custom single story 4 bed home & our frames are almost up we had all of our exerior colour choices sorted Monument roof, gutters, garage & windows, shale grey fascia Timber path leading up to our timber door. Our bricks were pgh rice. we originally went with dark bricks but were talked out of it. And upon choosing the rice bricks i ensured that the employees at pgh were certain that the rice brick was the same colour throughout they all reassured me all would be fine (incl my builder ) anyhoo. Phone call today was that it turns out the bricks arent a full colour and were all chipped so we are now having to render (yes that badly chipped) So im quite stressed as i dont know how i am going to make my colour scheme work and im desperately wanting to know if anyone has these colours with a rendered house? I like beachy kinda colours im thinking surfmist, or a very light grey as i dont want dark on dark, would these coloured renders get very dirty? Any help would be greatly appreciated Re: Render help needed!! 4Jan 15, 2016 9:56 am We used a colour called grand piano white (?) - or something like that ... It is quite light and very nice. Matches tiles. Everyone around us seems to have colorbond and dark roofs. Re: Render help needed!! 6Jan 15, 2016 3:06 pm Wow that's terrible! If they arrived chipped I would be asking for your builder to cover some of the rendering bill M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: Render help needed!! 7Jan 17, 2016 9:01 pm If your tiles all came badly chipped - isn't this the fault of pgh and their deliverer? I mean if my bricks all arrived basically unusable as bricks that I had picked them for - I would be asking for them to be replaced - especially if they haven't been installed yet - they should be returned and replaced. If not I would be asking for the price difference between it and a basic brick - as I'm guessing it would cost more than a basic brick is what you would have chose if you had wanted rendering, heck you would have used that special foam type bricks they use now for rendered homes. I know I wouldn't be accepting the badly chipped bricks without either replacement or compensation for having to now render. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Render help needed!! 8Jan 20, 2016 7:40 am The pgh people tried to put the blame onto me for choosing them but my partner took a few bricks and put them ontop of the display wall and told them that i was adament i didnt want a painted brick and they realised the bricks were totally different so they gave us the bricks for the price of commons &my partners best friend is a renderer and is giving us mates rates so to render the whole house its costing us 1500 out of pocket which my partner is pretty happy with. Shellby , to have them returned and replaced would take 4 weeks and weve already been held up so we dont want to waot any longer Re: Render help needed!! 9Jan 20, 2016 5:17 pm Similar situation to yourself Teigs1. We have front facade rendered and Crema coloured bricks for the rest of the house. We actually didn't even realise that Crema was a painted surface (and not a brick colour itself) until it was delivered Whilst the chipping from installation is relatively minimal, it is still noticeable and not a great look for a brand new house. So we are considering rendering most of the rest of the house, leaving just one side un-rendered (it is very close to the boundary fence and mostly hidden from the street by a neighbouring house - so our thinking is to not bother spending the money on that side). Our front facade render is painted with the colour "Brushed Softly" which is a slightly yellow/beige tinge - the idea was to be similar to the Crema bricks (without trying to match exactly). It has actually turned out more pale than we expected - more greyish, sort of like a tinted Surfmist, but still suitable for the idea we had in mind! Our house is mostly west facing so i dont know if that will make the surfmist a stark white that will make people squint when they look at the house which isn't my goal haha. Our renderer wants to start soon so i have se research to do! Re: Render help needed!! 14Feb 06, 2016 1:31 pm I'm really sorry!!! Been sick, behind on work and now all caught up... Yes we're still in front of the renderer (yay!) and I'm still no closer to choosing a colour! My partner doesn't like the starkness surfmist will bring so we're definitely wanting a light grey Re: Render help needed!! 16Feb 09, 2016 5:58 pm How about Dulux Accord - Don't forget it will lighten up once outside off your monitor.
