So sorry to hear the news. Really hope you are able to find a builder to take over ASAP as it must have been pretty upsetting to get this far. We have somewhere to live and all the important stuff so we're ok and we'll get there! I'll post again when we have some news. My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home with Ashford - tiling! 125Oct 22, 2016 3:03 pm Glad you are okay and staying positive! Definitely let us know how you go Re: Our Forever Home with ??? 126Nov 07, 2016 12:51 pm Sooo.... quick update. The insurance claim has been accepted. We have spoken to and had a new builder out to look over the house, which seems promising. Both my husband and I had a good feel about them; just have to chat to a few of their past clients, one of whom is around the corner. We have had an independent inspection done (called a 'defect and incomplete' report) and the insurance assessor is coming out this Friday. Really really hoping that the insurance/quotes/paperwork side of things can get all done and dusted before Christmas so we can get back onsite after the break. The builder we spoke to said once onsite it should only be between 4-6 weeks to get it all done. Fingers crossed!! My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home with ??? 127Nov 11, 2016 12:24 pm 4-6 weeks!! How exciting!! Hope the rest of the insurance process moves quickly for you Re: Our Forever Home with ??? 128Nov 11, 2016 9:02 pm That's fantastic news Tash! Glad you can see some light at the end of the tunnel finally. Hope the new builder looks after you and it's smooth sailing after this. Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 129Dec 29, 2016 1:12 pm Some good news to end the year; the insurance claim has been processed and finalised, just need to sign some paperwork. Will be getting that done asap. Have advised the new builder that we will need a contract as soon as they are back from holidays Happy New Year everyone! My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 130Dec 31, 2016 4:29 pm Congrats Tash and happy new year to you too! Who is your new builder? Can't wait to see it finished. Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 134Jan 30, 2017 8:41 am MrsPeabody I'm so happy for you. Who is your new builder? Can't wait to see it finished. Hi, the new builder is called Dean Homes. Marcus (director) has been really great to work with. Currently waiting on insurance and change of permit and then they can be on-site My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 135Feb 20, 2017 1:36 pm So,we are now back on site. Plastering fixes are complete, pillars have their capping, and the tapware/shower heads etc have been installed. Kitchen tap not installed yet, I think due to the fact that the benchtop has a cover on it for protection and would have to be moved to have the tap installed. Very happy to see some progress after so long. I believe that this week the heating/cooling guys are back to finish off the installation, controller, etc, and the data guy is finishing the NBN connection. Hopefully we will also see the front facade finished and some down pipes installed soon. I know that there is a lot on order so it is just waiting for it to be ready and installed. We have also been able to have several more retaining walls done (seperately through our landscaper friend) which is great as they are now all done - there were three - and it will mean we can progress to the next steps straight away when we get handover, such as concrete paths. Great to see some progress. Do you now have a date/idea they are aiming for completion? We just signed our contract this week after over a year spent working up to this point. Patience is definitely a virtue! Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 137Feb 21, 2017 7:37 am Yes patience is a virtue. Unfortunately I don't have much!! lol From memory the contract allows them up to around ten - twelve weeks, they have already been 'onsite' for nearly two weeks already. Marcus said that it shouldn't take anywhere near ten weeks so maybe in a month or so? Not really sure, whilst we want to get in we also want everything to be done properly, so not too stressed. We have waited this long and a few extra weeks, in the scheme of things, is not a lot, as long as we continue to see progress - seeing things happening keeps you happy. Went past last night and the downpipes have been installed, just have to be connected to the underground drains/pipes, so assuming that is happening soon. Heating and cooling guys should be onsite this week as well as the data guy. Our side fences (back fence already done) start today so should be done in a few days too. My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 138Feb 22, 2017 10:05 am That's great. Yes I agree, better to get everything done properly. You have come this far and waited this long so in the scheme of things a few extra weeks isn't going to hurt if it means ending up with a beautiful, high quality home. Keep the pics coming! Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 139Mar 03, 2017 11:41 am Few more bits and pieces have been done Mirrors installed Heating and cooling vents done and controller installed Fences finished Next week the carpenter should be back to finish the facade, eaves, and a few bits internally, hopefully shower screens and splashback too. Carpet and painter are scheduled for week after - hope everything stays on track My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea 140Mar 03, 2017 1:41 pm Ohh Tash I finally had a few spare mins to read your thread. I am so sorry that you had to go through that We are completely the same with Watersun - fell in love with the floor plan and the way we could alter it to be what we wanted. It appears we have very similar taste - our bricks are very similar, as is our bench top and a lot of the furniture I will be following the rest of your progress closesly! Fingers crossed you are in very soon! 6 11528 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13817 Hi VK, I am now retired however I have stood beside over 300 owner builders in the past 18 years that have successfully built their own homes.
