Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 14, 2016 11:41 am Hi all, Long time reader, first time poster! After 2 and a half long years, we are about to start building our forever home on my husbands family property in Gresford, in the Hunter Valley of NSW. The total land size is 270 acres and after much debacle with local council and State departments, we have managed to subdivide the property (on paper only...) to allow us a second building entitlement!! Long laborious and expensive process but well worth it in the end So we have decided on Freedom Homes for our builder. They offered a fully customised design process, which we loved, and have been fantastic to deal with so far. Plans are still in council but expecting to be out in the next 2-3 weeks. We have done all selections with tiles, kitchen, bathrooms etc etc... And draft contract has been drawn up which all looks hunky dory... I'm hoping to get some followers on here so I can seek advice during our build when I need it, as this is our first time building. We are building a homestead style home with 4 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms, attached 2 car garage and alfresco. Can upload plans etc soon once I figure out how lol We are looking forward to this build starting and are very excited to share this with some online followers... Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 2Jan 14, 2016 3:06 pm Hello! My hubby and I live in the Hunter Valley too, Maitland area. We are just about to build a homestead style home at Chisholm (much smaller block than yours 750m2 lol). Plans were approved in December 2015, we are just signing off on our final selections now then hopefully it will be full steam ahead for us. This home is our second build. Do you have plans to upload? I would love to have a look, especially being a homestead style like ours. Looking forward to following your build My Homeone Thread - Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 3Jan 14, 2016 4:05 pm Hi there! Wow that's great and a lovely area to build. I will upload plans once i figure out how to! Can you shed some light. Would love to follow your build too Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 6Jan 15, 2016 6:07 am Here is a link to my thread. I haven`t updated it in a while as the builder`s have been really slow. Finger`s crossed that I`ll have something more to report soon. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79415 I love your layout, I love that the master is separate from the other bedrooms, our plan is like that too. Big showers, big master, lots of storage, big bathrooms, big kitchen and living -very spacious! Love it! My Homeone Thread - Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 11Jan 15, 2016 3:28 pm We have chosen ironstone colorbond for the roof downpipes gutters etc. There will be blackbutt timber in the front and rear alfresco gables. Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 12Jan 16, 2016 8:21 am Your bricks are similar to our bricks (medium brown). I love your tiles, they look very fancy! The gable roof will be stunning with the timber. We had a gable roof on our last home, we wanted timber but somehow ended up with the cheap weatherboard painted. It wasn`t what we wanted, and sounds horrid, but we ended up liking it. Real timber would have looked 110% better though. So will have Monument roof, gutters, downpipes and garage door and was thinking Shale Grey for fascia. Still waiting to receive approved plans back from council but soon hopefully. Only need to choose interior paint colours and glass splashback colour now. Kitchen benches are Essastone French Black. Do you have any experience with a mirrored splash? Re: Freedom Homes Hunter Valley Rural home 20Jan 27, 2016 1:32 pm Not personally, if you ask me in 12 months time i would be able say yes I had similar concerns then i spoke to our colour consultant and people as kitchen places who said that the cleaning is the same as the glass splash back. Whether its true I am not sure. Building a sekisui house in Holmesville NSW viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75060 Hi Renee, Boundaries in NSW are generally shown on Deposited Plans.
