Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2016 5:06 pm We are meeting with our site supervisor on site tomorrow for the first time. We are rookies and want to ensure we cover off everything we need to with him tomorrow. Is there anything specific we should be asking him/telling him? At this point all I have is: -ensuring he is working off all correct variations -letting him know our current construction plans will shortly be updated - telling him we are arranging independent inspections at various stages -asking him what type of contact we can expect from him and how regular it will be Am I missing anything? If you made any changes discuss these with him. Even if it is on the plan it can get missed. We wanted floor waste int eh laundry in case our washing machine flooded. It was in ALL the plans but was missed still. The only solution was to cut into the slab which we denied however it still highlights the need to remind them. Re: First meeting with site supervisor 4Jan 13, 2016 6:48 pm Ensure that he is aware of all variations and changes to the construction plan. We had reached frame stage before our SS realised we had a seventh variation (which included structural changes) that simply wasn't in our job file when he was assigned to it. Don't assume he understands the variations to contract because he doesn't. Don't think that he really cares about you or your build because he doesn't. I try and ring him every few days and get his plans for the next few days, what he says rarely happens but..... After you meet with him put the conversation and his schedule back to hi m in an email. We are on our third SS, the latest is not a bad guy but I think he is under the pump and just not able to dedicate enough time to planning and communication. Unfortunately it is us that suffer with poor progress and in our case a significant breach by Coral of the Construction PC Date.... Building a modified Coral Bronte - Scarborough Facade Re: First meeting with site supervisor 7Jan 15, 2016 12:54 am Ask him how many other builds he is supervising. That way you'll be able to work out how long he will be spending on our build every week. Probably going to be of the order of 15-30 minutes so; 1. Don't expect much 2. Take responsibility for your build - he won't 3. Make sure your independent inspector isn't a mate of your site supervisor 4. Keep it polite, keep it all in writing, keep a very close eye on him 5. Again - don't expect much. That way you're less likely to be disappointed. because its not being managed properly. Also "properly" is too broad and too subjective a term to be able to pinpoint a single event as not being managed properly.… 1 2729 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 8270 |
