Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2016 3:54 pm Hi all, I had a few posts on here early in the process & I had great intentions of a building blog but it didn't eventuate. Now that we have moved into our new home, I wanted to provide an update on the experience. We had a flat block in Alderley that needed a house to be built 1m off the ground due to it being in a flood zone. In the end, we chose Valeco for a number of reasons but mostly around their flexibility with design and their willingness to work together on site costs. It is very unusual to say but I didn't really find any negatives. I was prepared for a stressful experience based on stuff I had read from others who built & maybe that prepared me well and of course there were little things along the way but overall, it was a very low stress experience. For me, the positives I have found during the build have been: A good sales guy to start with. Very patient & good at explaining the process and upgrade implications. Good draughtsman who was very flexible with plans and took into account things like prevailing breezes, aspect & sun position. Very good admin staff. When I sent a mail or made a call, the response was often immediate but always within 24 hours. Directors / Owners who are still hands on enough to put themselves into the build. We had a couple of council issues that required action from the top management of the company and they were always happy to take a call & work through it. I could tell a good end product is very important to them. A very good site supervisor. Again, always happy to take a call & take on-board issues as they arose. Very good communicator who worked with us to get things sorted. Good quality control. Many sets of eyes went over every detail to make sure the build was up to standard. & most importantly for us. Right now, after handover & final payment, Val eco are still working hard to finish a couple of little issues like painting & a sliding door adjustment. Overall, if I was to build again, I would use them in a heartbeat. I know this probably reads like a paid ad but it isn't. I'm just a happy customer. Re: Build Complete Val Eco homes Brisbane 2Jan 20, 2016 1:51 pm Hi Balbriggan, We've just signed to build with Val Eco (in Bellbird Park). We are very happy to read your review, as it helps to put our mind at ease further. We are confident we have made the right choice, even though the build hasn't actually started yet! It's good to read about someone's experiences - thank you for taking the time to share! Re: Build Complete Val Eco homes Brisbane 3Jan 20, 2016 1:53 pm Hi Deva, No problem at all. Just keep the communication going with them. Happy to answer any questions as well. Re: Build Complete Val Eco homes Brisbane 6May 19, 2016 4:03 pm Great stuff.
