Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 21Feb 19, 2016 9:22 am Hey Guys, good to see number of capsestoners. I am also building in Stage - 9. But haven't chosen builder yet. Planning to go with Clarendon but due to a corner block, there are so many things to consider. Setbacks are different. Parking and living area needs to be diagonal. Being a first home buyer, its hell of a job to find proper builder and design. Hopefully will be able to sort out before end of next week. We have a corner block in stage 5, moved in in November 2015. Bit tricky to work out a plan that is solar passive and fit the setbacks, but worth it for the extra space I reckon. Good luck, make sure you share your plan! Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 23Feb 19, 2016 1:43 pm falcon86 Hey Guys, good to see number of capsestoners. I am building on a block in Stage 7. We ended up having to build on boundary in order to fit the house plan we wanted. We have a large north facing roof, which will be good for when we put panels on after handover. If you do go with Clarendon, you'll find the guys up there nice to work with. The SS is pretty good too. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 24Feb 19, 2016 1:45 pm manderinne So happy to see more Capestoners popping up It is good to see more people building in Capestone here. First person I saw on h1 in Capestone was your manderinne. How are things going now that you have been living in your house for a bit? First person I saw on h1 in Capestone was your manderinne. How are things going now that you have been living in your house for a bit? The house is going great. We noticed a few issues after moving in - such as the ensuite shower being plumbed backwards - but since then we've had no problems. Working on the landscaping now. We've just finished retaining, backfilling and levelling along the secondary street (we are on the high side of the road) so the next step will be soil prep/turf then fencing. But we might have to wait until spring for that. It's a great feeling having your own space and we love the area. It's so quiet with a lovely neighbourhood feeling, so many people are out walking every arvo/evening and we've met some awesome folks. Now that stage 9 is open, they should be working on building that park down there, which looks awesome from the plans I saw on planning alerts. In a few months, I might run into you haha Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 27Feb 19, 2016 2:02 pm bmitchel Thats great to hear. In a few months, I might run into you haha Ooo, can you tell me where to find that park plan? I used to work for a playground design company and I'm waiting to see if they're involved as they built the first playground in stage 1. I daresay you'll see me around, you just might not know who I am! We need nametags with H1 names, haha. If you go to planning alerts, just look for anything close to Lot 4 Kinsellas Road East in Mango Hill. You should be able to come across the Landscaping Plan for Stage 9. Reasonable size PDF. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 29Feb 19, 2016 5:23 pm Great to see so many Capestoners in the forum. We should have a Capestone party! I was considering a corner block, but found the designs to be quite restrictive. Have you looked at Custom Design Builders? They can design something that suits your needs. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 31Feb 19, 2016 8:06 pm Oops I'm in stage 10. Will see which design will suit. So far short listed : Killara 30 from Clarendon Langdon 28 from Matricon I haven't discovered lot many builders yet. This weekend, I'm planning to go to South Ripley to see some more display homes. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 32Apr 17, 2016 2:55 pm Hi all, We are looking at building with Plantation Homes and was wondering if anyone could give us some guidance on flooring costs. We got the free flooring promotion but it is just their standard range of wooden look floorboards. From what we have experienced in display homes the 'included' ones seem to be more creaky over time whereas the upgraded boards (referred to as crafted) sound better to walk on. Wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if anyone is aware of the price difference between the boards with plantation homes? Thanks in advance Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 33Apr 17, 2016 8:24 pm DJCJDC Hi all, We are looking at building with Plantation Homes and was wondering if anyone could give us some guidance on flooring costs. Thanks in advance Hi, Plantation tend to use real timber floors in their display homes (at least the ones that we visited). We too got the free flooring option, but instead of the carpets in the bedrooms (4) and the Theatre room, we decided to have the same timber look (laminate) flooring. This cost us about 3K. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 34Apr 17, 2016 8:30 pm It's been such a long time since I've posted anything about my progress. Here's where we are currently: The land developer took ages to provide the sewer and ASCON reports and Plantation need these reports before the plans can be submitted to the council for approval. We finally got the reports last week and we are hoping that Plantation submit the plans to the council for approval soon. Strangely, the lot next to us is Plantation owned and built and they have already laid the foundations and the frame. Over the next few days, I'll prepare a list of the colour choices and costs, I'm sure it will help someone out there. Re: Carmelle Q2 - Plantation Homes - Mango Hill 35Jun 19, 2016 11:36 am I haven't been active on this thread as I like to be, however here is the latest update: - Slab was poured over two weeks ago (It's funny how the place looks so small all of a sudden. I had to borrow a measuring tape and make sure that the dimensions were all correct) - I met one of our future neighbors and they seem friendly and we have started talking about fencing - I didn't think about extra noggins (or nogs) for TV mounts and extra data points during the plan, so I'm trying to get that organized (if the SS picks up her phone) - I have a SS, however there has been no communication nor have I met her. According to my CSA, the SS only makes contact with the client when it is necessary. When I checked with my future neighbours who are building with Metricon, their SS gives them a regular update every Friday. Whilst the progress has been going OK so far, I get no updates from the SS. Plantation will definitely need to pick their game up on this front - We have a Frame!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ - Is it common to have nails left in the frame like this?
