Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 25, 2015 9:41 am Hi everyone, We settled on a piece of land (Mango Hill, Moreton Bay Council) yesterday and we are so excited! Can someone tell me what I need to do after the land is settled? Do I need to contact the council for organising the council rates? Do I need to arrange water and electricity or does the builder do that? Thanks What's next after land is settled? 2Dec 25, 2015 9:35 pm Hi lazybones, Generally your conveyancing solicitor will send all the relevant documents through the lands office and your local council will be notified that your the new owner, the rates and water will be sent to you. Depending on your building the power is covered by them during the course of your build but 90% of the time you will have to pay for the water the builders consume. That was our experience with metricon. Best of luck.
