Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 22, 2015 2:49 pm Hi, Brand new to this forum and looking to tap into the collective intelligence of all of you. My story: Have an existing home in suburban Sydney and am looking to do a knockdown rebuild. I have no idea how to get started. I've never done anything like this before so was hoping for some help on the best resources to get started. Things I have no idea about: - What forum posts/threads, websites, books etc. should I read to best get up to speed quickly? - What key mistakes should I try to avoid? - How does one decide how best to choose a builder? Sorry to begin things with a request for help, but I look forward to reading more and participating in this forum. Visit lots of builders display homes and tell the sales consultant/builders what you are wanting to do ... Ask them lots of questions as you go. You will learn HEAPS from this exercise alone - including which ones don't know what they are talking about (eventually you'll work it out). As B4M3Ts says, follow other people's threads. Pick ones in Sydney that are doing a KDR like you. Start contributing positively to their thread (even if its just compliments on their choices) then you can ask them questions without being a pain. B4M3Ts is building in Sydney. She is building a very interesting home! Good Sydney KDR threads to follow: 'yvonneh' built with Sekesui Homes - viewtopic.php?t=69682 'deluded' built with Alkira Homes- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73866 'Sheilzy' built with Metricon - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72159 Although now all finished, you might learn something from reading at least the first few pages of their threads. Good luck Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 12457 If you make sure all taps inside and out are turned off, what does the water meter show if you leave it for a while. 2 16233 |
