Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2015 5:52 pm Hi all! new user here but i must admit i have stalked the forum a few times! Id love to get some peoples opinion on what would be the better choice living wise and investmentwise. Im looking at building in either mannum or murray bridge SA Mannum is more of a holiday town with more development coming up, a largeish supermarket and a 25 minute drive to murray bridge which has all the shops. From what ive been reading their public school is better then the ones in murray bridge and the block of land would be 1000m2 which is a good to average size for that area and is in a new estate and walking distance for the school and shop. It is cheaper land and there would be more room to run for the kids and room to allow a bigger rain water tank and a veggie patch. Prices for resale seem to be quite high and its cheaper to build (not sure how often the houses actually sell though) Murray bridge is having some huge housing developments happening now and in the future, new shopping centre and is closer to adelaide city but is known as a rough town. The block there is narrow and 500m2 and is in an ok area with newer houses ( kind of the buffer area between the bad and the really good) and it also backs on to a road which is used regularly. Prices for resale seem to be still on the lower side. Im a single parent and want to be close to facilities and better job opportunities but i also have a special needs child and im worried about the noises he makes disrupting the neighbours close by on the narrow block with limited backyard space. Hoping someone here might know of the areas or to hear what someone here would choose. I dont live nearby unfortunately so my physical presence and research is difficult. Thanks! Re: Where would you build? Murray Bridge or Mannum? 3Dec 19, 2015 8:10 pm My opinion for what's its worth, is that it depends on the actual location. If you can get land close to the river in Mannum then I would go for Mannum, otherwise I would go for Murray Bridge as it has most major facilities including ( I think) a high school (or at least an area school) & major supermarkets. Re: Where would you build? Murray Bridge or Mannum? 4Dec 20, 2015 7:38 pm Thankyou for your response. The block in mannum is in the paddlesteamer estate which is around 2km away from the river. I think i may be able to get a close block but then it would be a smaller block around the same size of the murray bridge block. Murray bridge does have a few primary schools and one high school where as mannum has a r-12 community college which seems to have better feedback then those in murray bridge. Id love to have the big block of land but not sure if i want to be isolated! Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic). Good area, atrocious floor plan. BUT has land out to the left-hand side that we can extend out on (see second… 0 8781 Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
