Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 21Dec 17, 2015 12:56 pm Wow even split on this one. It's discourteous maybe but it's no big deal. I mean visitors will use it when they arrive. It's not like it's permanent damage. By the same token my question would be does it speak to other issues on site or not. My builder runs a tight ship and does not allow his trades to leave garbage etc they must put it in the bin. I doubt they'd use the toilet but who knows. I think it's because he's a tidy builder overall and pays attention to detail. Head office have even said their tradies are pigs and their quality has been declining lately. He said they use to have quality tradies but not any more. Why they don't just hire new ones is beyond me. He has many horror stories to tell. Because I dont have my keys I am not comfortable going into specifics with the stuff ups. The quality I've seen so far along with the mistakes is the reason why I am hiring a building inspector. The mistakes I have seen so far are the type that will delay handover so I point them out when I see them. Why would you do your business in a porta loo if there was a nice toilet to do it in. They will clean it before they move in anyway. Maybe you should supply them a toilet brush? And if they damage it (I'm not sure how) they'll replace it Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 25Dec 21, 2015 8:19 pm Have any of you people ever stepped foot in a portaloo? They are literally the most disgusting things in the world. Sorry lady but if i was working in your house, i'd be sitting on your toilet browsing this forum... Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 26Dec 21, 2015 9:51 pm my husband said he HAD to use the portaloo one day when we were at our site I was gobsmacked ... This is the man who boasts that he doesn't use public toilets (goes before we go out or hangs on 'til we get home ... Not always possible). I stood back in amazement, waiting for him to come out ... Green Dry-retching "Oh my god! Oh my GOD!!!! How the hell does anyone use that thing and manage to stay alive!? They must be really sick! [ill] I hope they finish our house before they die from using that disgusting thing! Oh my GOD!" I kind of expected them to use our toilet once it was installed. Hope things pick up for you Ppl say its stressful to build, so understand your angst. Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 27Dec 21, 2015 10:09 pm I think most of our trades pee'd on our walls out the back (certainly looked/smelt that way) no doubt as they didn't want to use the portaloo! I never went in ours but the smell was bad enough on the outside Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 29Dec 22, 2015 4:46 am I'd also not care about the mess on site. As long as it's clean at handover. Defects I get, worth being annoyed about, but mess, toilet use...meh, whatevs. Have you been using an I dependant inspector throughout your build? I hope so, sounds like you need one. Creator of superduperonium, expert at expert things, nobel laureate, can hold my breath for 10 minutes. Re: Fed up with my builder - now crapping in my toilets 30Dec 22, 2015 10:07 am I personally would not care about the state of house or the defects on the proviso that it is spotless and with no defects at handover. It is my opinion that you should let them do their job and once a stage is finished, raise issues. Just remember there are personalities and feelings on both sides. If you push the wrong buttons, the experience is just going to deteriorate. Sometimes it is better to just accept and focus on more important things. Building can be stressful so it is important to choose what worries you wisely otherwise the toll on you is not good.
