Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 09, 2015 8:03 am Hi all,
Thought id start my own blog considering the lack of fowler home builds there are on this forum. My fiance and I decided to go with Fowler homes because of: -value for money -ability to modify floor plan -modern facades And lastly great inclusions and options I have to admit, I can be ocd about alot of things but it was my first build and also our dream home so I wanted it to be perfect. We went fore a open plan with a contemporary facade After long trail of paperwork we signed our tender Jan 2014....then there was more paper work. Due to all these changes Also the fact I needed an acoustic engineer because council believes I live on a busy street for noise reduction (whatever) The process honestly lagged.... Over 1.5 years of a trail of emails and paper work before construction actually took place. 2. I apparently also needed traffic Control for 6 days worth $16,000. This came post tended signing. I obviously said No thank you. I'll take care of traffic control myself. This wasted almost 2 months of back and fourth between me n Fowler till my solicitor got involved.....then ended up costing $500 admin fee.. (till this day I'll never understand why i needed traffic control considering you can park outside my street and Ive got a 7.5metre frontage but anyway, traffic control ended up costing me 2.5k) 3. I got charged 2.3k for gutter/kerb protection as a variation then later on get told by my SS John from Fowler, this is incorrect as the plumber is gonna destroy the kerb gutter to run the sewerage junction through to connect to Sydney water. LOL...I asked for a credit back. -WHat do i get a variation for additional piering put in over the 50LM provided by Fowler without my consent. My contract states "all pieing liniel metres to be confirmed on site between a fowler homes rep and client prior to pouring" MY SS was not onsite and I was not contacted so I said I'm not paying no additional 4k but in good faith they can keep that 2.3k they were gonna credit me just so we can keep things moving. 4. Ive had few framing issues, But to be honest I let my SS know and he looks into it straight away. I would like My SS to be onsite a bit more....I know i'm not the only house they're building but honestly his probably around once a week if that... The fact I pick up on alot of the issues and not him gets to me as its my house but not my job. Otherwise so far i'm pretty happy as When I do pick up on some things as even though were in construction I ask for minor things to be changed Whether its my SS John or he has to speak with the Manger Frank I never get a negative Answer. Re: Fowler Homes - My MONACO Castle 16Dec 10, 2015 3:13 pm BL35ED Yeap im building in smithfield We knew it, as soon as we saw your pics!! Teleo Tovio Re: Fowler Homes - My MONACO Castle 17Dec 10, 2015 3:15 pm BL35ED We really wanted to go for a modern day look, so we we went for a red poly kitchen with white cesarstone.. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home lol. Considering it was an open plan we though it would look really nice almost like a feature at the same time. Mirror splashback to suit then I modified the island to add an electrical fireplace facing the living room this will be covered in stackstone later... This is just rough idea.... Its not perfect. I do all this on my computer so my fiance can get an idea of what it would like Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The fireplace looks cool!!!
