Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 08, 2015 6:47 pm Hi
We bought a block last year in Alkimos Beach, it's 595m2 and has a bit of a slope. After looking at a couple of builders - We signed with Summit Homes to build our home. The sales person was great and answered all our questions quickly and gave us some suggestions etc. As we waited a while between purchasing the block and signing up with the builder, we had to stay on top of things like making sure other builders doesn't dump sand on our block (which happened 3 times)... We had prestart on a Monday morning(14 Sept), so the Sunday before we were driving around and looking at houses to decide on our exterior colours. Going in with clear idea of colour scheme, we were told that Alkimos beach doesn't allow the dark roof colour we wanted - so we had to change. We were also going to take the standard tapware, but found out at prestart that the developer requires tapware to be 5 star WELS rating, and the standard is only 4 .. so we upgraded quite a few things as that threw the initial game plan out the window. Some other changes we made: - upgrade to 1200mm entry door - double shower in ensuite - undermount sink in the kitchen - ceiling height overhead cupboards with 30mm drop cupboard face - fridge tap - kitchen drawers - all the tapware.... - extend bathroom bentops and cupboards to meet shower screens - tiled seat in ensuite shower - added mini wall basin to WC to make it powder room. - waterfall kitchen benchtop - theatre room doors - conduits - extra lights outside We are now at 'site start' stage and Siteworks was completed end of last week. Here are the house plans (it will have steps due to the slope): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Time line: 14-Jul-2015 – PPA Signed 30-Jul-2015 – Drafting Complete 20-Aug-2015 – Received contracts 24-Aug-2015 – Contracts signed 31-Aug-2015 – Planning approval 14-Sept-2015 – Prestart meeting 28-Sept-2015 - Initial prestart costings - query/request few items 13-Oct-2015 – Received additional prestart costings (With some changes) and did final selections 28-Oct-2015 - Final plans received 29-Oct-2015 – 6 star approval 29-Oct-2015 – Land developer approval 10-Nov-2015 – Building permit issued 04-Nov-2015 – Scheduling 23-Nov-2015 - Scheduling completed 04-Dec-2015 - Siteworks completed 15-Dec-2015 - Slab Complete 15-Jan-2016 - Bricks & Window frames delivered 03-Feb-2016 - Brickwork Complete 09-Feb-2016 - Sand finish to front elevation 11-Feb-2016 - Roof timbers delivered 11-Mar-2016 - Roof completed 18-Mar-2016 - Windows completed 24-Mar-2016 - Summit Superwall + Ceilings completed 01-Apr-2016 - Lockup 18-Apr-2016 - Cupboards 20-Apr-2016 - Painter - Spray 29-Apr-2016 - Tiler Meeting 04-May-2016 - Grano to Garage 15-May-2016 - Tiling Complete 17-May-2016 - Electrical & Plubing Finals started 20-May-2016 - Electrical & Plubing Finals completed 20-May-2016 - Pavers Re: 1st Home, Alkimos Beach(WA) - Summit Homes 3Dec 08, 2015 11:41 pm I love the design.
