Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2015 7:27 pm Hello, I am planning on building on a corner block with the driveway on the long side. Land titled this week and settlement is in 2 weeks. Took a while to work out a layout and after talking to many builders where the best they could come up with was to build a standard house and just flip the garage to suit the driveway, I didn't like that idea at all as I wanted a house that would suit the block. So to cut a long story short i have ended up with a custom layout with the front of the home facing the long side. I am very happy with the layout and think it will be ideal for a corner block. We were like you and chose the land than had to design a house to fit it. I like the design but the only thing I would change is to move the alfresco to where the kitchen, meals and dinning is so you could have that more open style living. Building on a corner block in Melbourne 3Dec 03, 2015 8:15 pm Yes I do agree but not enough room, my yard is on the garage side of the home. It's crazy how their are really no designs specially for corners! The federation builders got that right ... Really featured beautifully with some nice Queen Anne return verandas etc. Re: Building on a corner block in Melbourne 5Dec 04, 2015 2:49 am Charley Yes I do agree but not enough room, my yard is on the garage side of the home. Ahhh I thought that might be the case. I still think it is an awesome design though. Re: Building on a corner block in Melbourne 7Dec 04, 2015 7:39 pm No, bed 1 is on the north side. Not ideal I know. Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: Building on a corner block in Melbourne 8Dec 05, 2015 2:12 pm Hi, it is a lovely plan and very flowing. I reckon where you have got your alfresco is a great spot. The only change I would make would be put the laundry in the storeroom and have a lovely big ensuite and wir It's all personal preference though. Good luck with your build Re: Building on a corner block in Melbourne. Settlement date 9Dec 08, 2015 5:04 pm Found out today land settlement is 30th December. Woohoo!
