Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Bentley homes 41Dec 08, 2016 7:59 pm Hi there, its been a while since i've been back here as not a lot has been happening since we weren't starting till Dec. So our house was demolished this past week and we now have a clear site ready for things to get going. As far as I'm aware they are ordering surveying to be done to check the levels haven't changed in the demo, and consequently our site costs would need readjusting. Fingers crossed all will be good and they can start in the new year! amythurs: we are in Heidelberg, Vic. Have you started building yet? Has anyone had an independent inspector come at each stage to check things are being done properly? We are thinking this might be a good idea? Re: Building with Bentley homes 42Dec 09, 2016 2:13 pm Hi guys, Has anyone got charged by Bently homes for the generator's cost? Currently i have been noticed by Bently homes that the electricity is not available at our site due to the backlog of connection required prior to xmas by RED energy. As the cost of generator is 150$/a day until they got the electric connection. I feel so disappointed as they have so much time before the site started. Any advices guys? Thank you Re: Building with Bentley homes 43Dec 13, 2016 7:55 pm Kenny48 we haven't encountered this yet, but we had heaps of trouble with having the power line removed from our house. Jemmena say it can take up to 20 business day for this to occur, in our case it took 19 before i rang and complained and complained in writing and was magically done the next day. That it should take that long is ridiculous. Do they need power to start on site day 1? Again apparently Jemmena can take 10 business days to reconnect power to the underground pit, so i think I'll add an extra week to my timeframe. Maybe give RED energy a call and complain, or ask what their complaints process is. I hope it gets connected asap for you, $150 p/day adds up. After discussing with the manager of bently homes about this matter! i have told him that my neighbour has allow me to use their power until the site got connected to RED ENERGY.therefore, apart from 3 days they already used the generator, they will start using my neighbour's electric tomorrow(luckily). This RED energy company is one of the worse supplier,i think that Bently homes should hook up with a different company to avoid getting clients upset about a small matter. I wasnt intended to get an independent inspector but now i will have one at the final stage. I think it would be a good idea to have inspector come on site before handover! Regards Kenny Re: Building with Bentley homes 47Dec 20, 2016 12:09 am Kenny - some of those pictures look really concerning, particularly the middle photos of the beam half hanging on the concrete slab. You should get an inspection now at frame stage, otherwise you won't see the issues once the plaster is hung. Re: Building with Bentley homes 49Dec 23, 2016 11:31 am we will get our inspector in the completion and handover stage. fixing stage is done. we had a walk through of the house with site supervisor last tuesday before they all go off for break. happy holidays everyone! Re: Building with Bentley homes 50Dec 27, 2016 11:56 am Glad to hear you had your power issue fixed Kenny. We are now waiting for them to start back in Jan and be handed over to construction, with a starting time early Feb (we hope). Fingers crossed for a smooth sailing build in 2017! Re: Building with Bentley homes 51Jan 17, 2017 11:31 am How is everyone 's house going? They have finished my frame stage. And bad news is They still havent get the power connected wirh Red Energy. I have tried to talk red energy few times but nothing much i can do as Bently is account holder. I have asked Bently to do something about it and still havent got power up till now. I am ending up paying 600$ for generator used(4 days for Bently), and 200$ to my neighbour and will be more as Bently is still using my neighbour's power until they get connected with red energy . (50$ per day for neighbour's power) this is so frustrated. Re: Building with Bentley homes 52Jan 17, 2017 2:50 pm Kenny, Keep in mind that RedEnergy is just a billing company and they don't own any infrastructure or cables. Find out who your electricity infrastructure is and chase them. I had similar problems with gas connection some time ago and they sorted all the problems one day after I finally called an ombudsman. I'll build in Tarneit. Not so soon. Since I read a lot of complaints, feeling like want to re-considering even we paid $1,500. Anyone here are happy with Bentley? With workmanship or anything elese? If anyone would be kind to show some pictures or update about your house wiuld be so appreciated. Thank you Amy Re: Building with Bentley homes 54Feb 07, 2017 3:35 pm Hope everyone's builds are going well? We're almost at fixing stage now and our build seems to be moving along well. Hi Amy, we're pretty happy with them and don''t have any issues with workmanship. We did have some issues initially relating to staff turnover, however I guess that's just the industry. I built with Henley back in the late 90s and I think the experience with Bentley has been significantly better... to date Re: Building with Bentley homes 56Feb 13, 2017 5:03 pm Hi everyone, Last week we just heard one of our dreaded incident in the build process: Theft. Our site supervisor messaged us on Wednesday last week that there was theft in our property. I am just so upset. We are supposed to be in lockdown but the weekend when that happened, we visited and saw from the roadside that the gates were open and the front door was wide open! As if inviting to call on everyone and come take things inside! The sliding door from laundry was also open. At that time, nothing was taken yet. We made sure everything was locked before leaving. I guess that was not enough really to keep them out. I think the only thing that bothers me is that we have been dropping by almost every week, and in each instance, majority of the time one of the doors or sliding door is open. Nothing I can do right now. Another 4weeks of delay has been added in our supposed completion date. inhale... exhale... My house is at lock up stage as well, and of course last time i visit : door locked but sliding window and fence was opened. Stay strong, we are nearly there... Re: Building with Bentley homes 58Feb 14, 2020 3:58 pm Hi Guys, just wanted to start up this thread again because I am looking at building with Bentley and given you all were building with them (and are hopefully living in your dream homes now). How was everyone's experience with them? What would you do differently? What should we be cautious of? How long did your builds take? Were there issues post handover? And finally how were they when it comes to upgrades? We are doing a KDRB but its a flat block with minimal trees so we have been told is should be straight forward to get the site ready. Thanks in advance. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 47649 I would never build with Fowler homes.
