Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 28, 2015 12:13 pm Told one week to receive our new home proposal, received that but wanted three changes made, an extra outdoor tap, a door widened and a microwave cavity removed. At this stage all just on paper, some whiteout and a couple of hours tops to price these up but no, a week and a half later still nothing. My lunch break coincides with our Client Liaison Officer so I emailed her Thursday 1pm asking when we would be likely to receive the updated version and nothing, no message, no email, we don't exist. I picked up she was pretty useless from day one ,mucked up our appointment time so we got less time and had to hurry through things, sounds half asleep on the phone and takes ages to phone back. Unfortunatly we gave them another $1500 on receiving the first NHP instead of waiting until the second one came through. Is this normal behaviour in the building trade? Very unprofessional if it is. Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 3Nov 28, 2015 6:11 pm My first liaison officer was useless, never called back, never emailed, but my other 2 were good, well for the most part they were good, I'd normally get a call back within a couple of hours and a response to an email within a day or two, sometimes it went longer but that was usually because they were waiting on information from elsewhere. At the stage you are at though, i think that is really poor and if this is what they are like when they are trying to sell you their product, what will they be like down the track.. This concerns me as well. I don't want to compain about her in case they get their back up with me and make life even more difficult. But, if I don't hear back from her by 4pm Monday I will call and ask if there is some problem holding things up and perhaps she hasn't received my email? My frustation levels are pretty much through the roof right now. We've aready walked away from one builder losing $3000 in the process so can't afford to walk away from another. Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 5Nov 29, 2015 12:20 am Mine was the same. She would always be busy when I called her and either wouldn't return my calls or would take days to do so. She was the same with emails. She was rude and useless. She caused so many delays. She would take ages to make changes to inclusions, would stuff up my choices by including wrong models, quote incorrect prices. She would forget to send me paperwork to sign and then would tell me that the lack of my signature is delaying everything, even though she admitted to forgetting to send me the paperwork to sign. She dragged things out so much that our build won't be completed before Christmas, instead it will be January. My house will be so close to being finished when all the tradies go on holiday over Christmas. She let it slip that the company only starts a certain amount of houses each week and it seemed like my house was delayed on purpose. Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 6Dec 01, 2015 4:58 pm And this is why I get so wild and wound up. Met someone at our property on Friday to discuss retaining. 'I'll have a quote ready for you this weekend' he says. And still I wait. Rang our mortgage broker at 9am this morning, he was on the phone so I asked that he call me back asap, 5pm, haven't heard back. Rang our client liaison officer at the same time, not there so also asked for a call back asap. You guessed it, nothing.....grrrrrrrrrrrr Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 7Dec 02, 2015 12:29 am That isn't normal for me. I can email my builder and hear by the end of the day - heck one night (as I work evenings) I quickly sent an email off at 9:30pm so I knew they would have it the next day and could get back to me while I slept - well 10 minutes later I had a reply and the cost change as 'she just happen to be on her PC when it came through and since it was a 5 minute task she did it then.' - most of the time its only an hour or 2 during the day to hear back to emails and if they can't answer it quickly, they will still respond to let me know they got it and will get back to me. To me I would walk away, if they are like this before they have my signed contract and money what will they be like once I really can't afford to walk away because it will cost $10,000 or so. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 8Dec 02, 2015 6:13 am shellby That isn't normal for me. We walked away from one builder which has cost us $3000 plus we are now paying for rates, a mortgage on the land and rent so on top of that $3000, the delay that has caused has cost us considerably more. I sent a rather curt email the other day and within 24 hours had a response and the paperwork I had been waiting over a week for. I guess all we can do is plod along, I don't want to compain because I'm afraid that will make things even more difficult and delayed than they already are. Re: Slow As A Wet Weekend & No Response To Emails, Normal? 9Dec 02, 2015 9:34 am Who is the builder? Why did you pay $3000? Some sale person want us to pay $1000 before they even draw up a plans. I always walked away from them. I am happy to pay when I am happy with the plans. My builder is so easy to contact? Email will be answer with in 2 hours most of the time. Rarely the next day. We originally chose a small firm that had a really good reputation so we handed over $3000 which should have taken it to council. But 3 months later the plans were still going back and forward to the draughtsman because we had a supposidly difficult site and this firm had absolutly no idea how to build on it and were coming up with ridiculous plans. They also went way over budget. Orginally they said they would refund any unused portion of our deposit if we didn't go ahead but of course they have ignored our requests for an itemised account and a refund. 1 13123 All sorted guys. Just needed to buy a blade with the correct bush. Dunno how to delete this post, can't find any help file.
