Hi! Anyone able to give a timeframe on how long it took to build their home. Slab will be down this week but the house we are renting is going up for sale and our lease ends 19 Feb 2016. We're building a 24sq one storey home with burbank.
Thanks

Thanks There are so many variables, it's really hard to say how long it will take - some builders take a lot longer than others. I would say you are likely to need a short term rental between your lease ending and your house being done (especially with Christmas break stopping everything). fwiw, we started at the beginning of October and our tiles are going in now. We're thinking we'll be in some time in January. We built the Rathdowne with Simonds Express in Western Melbourne Site start Oct. 2015 Keys Jan. 25th, 2015 My build thread -here- Re: Timeframe 3Nov 26, 2015 11:28 am I would say at best 6 months if everything goes well. The first house I built, the slab was down in January, I got had over in June, it as a small house, but that was quick. Like Megara said, there are so many variables. Most building contract will allow a 250 working day time frame (so not including weekends) which is basically a year. This is to cover their own backs if things go bad. Definitely look for a 6 Month rental with the option of extending for another 6. Re: Timeframe 4Nov 26, 2015 11:38 am I would also say roughly six months with the Christmas break. We started our build on the 18th August, our painter is due to start in about 2 weeks time and our builder has said that hand over is usually 5-6 weeks after the painter is finished, however in our case they are closed for 4 weeks over the Christmas break so we will be looking at Feb for completion. We are still waiting on council approval. Our builder told us it would take 20 weeks to build so we are a little worried if the house we are in sells. It's been for sale for a year now and still no bites so we are just hoping it doesn't sell otherwise looks like we might be camping on our block! |
