Good morning,
I'm really excited to join this forum and share our journey of building our family home and seek some advice from you . We are building a home in Bundaberg, after relocating from Brisbane with our family for work and a change of lifestyle! We are a family of 4 (mum, dad and two little boys) and are really excited to be having some land to play on!!
We have purchased a one acre (4000m) block that is north-south orientation (north to the back) and with a wide (53m frontage). At the moment we have neighbours on each side, but not to the back, and our block has a lovely extended family of kangaroos keeping it mown and fertilised .
I'm currently in the final stages of drawing our plan! After weeks of sketches in the trusty old graph pad I'm now working with a draftsmen. Our home will be a fair size ~270-280, with 4 bedrooms, study, activity room, open kitchen/ living/ dining, media and 2 bathrooms. We are trying to maximise the frontage of the home to utilise our block well and also make the most of our north-south orientation.
I will upload a draft of our design when I get it back from the draftsmen with some changes.
I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on having a door in the master bedroom to go outside? I'd like a window, but our draftsmen is suggesting a sliding glass door. He thinks it will be nice to be able to walk straight outside, I am concerned that my hubby will be so excited to see me and walk straight into the bedroom with muddy boots... At the moment our outdoor area is not coming off the master bedroom, and we aren't sure what we will do in the space in the future - potentials include nice garden, water feature, pool (way down the track).
Thanks for reading!
Have a great day
Sasha
