Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 15, 2015 9:33 pm Hello everyone, My wife and I are considering doing an owner builder job on a double story house we have had planned for a couple years. It was originally planned as double brick ( Perth you guessed it ), but the more I look into the ease and simplicity of building with ICF, and doing the work myself, the more I think I will be able to save off the job - where as I would not be comfortable laying bricks and hand mixing concrete for weeks on my own. This is more like a week of form laying foam, pour and the wall is completed, ready for render / cladding/plaster etc... There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information available now regarding ICF's in Australia. There are posts on here, but they all date back to 2009, 2010. So why has it gone quiet? Has anyone had any recent experience with this type of construction? and in which state? The sheets that I have seen put it lower than the cost of rendered double brick - which is my current situation. If so, what block did you use and how did you find it, what problems did you have, what would you do again and what would you do differently. Cheers Good questions but the best answer will be obtained by visiting (ie: interviewing) a couple of house designers and/or builders and ask them.
