Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 14, 2015 5:05 pm Hi All, Hope someone can help! We have a really narrow corner block and are looking at building a house that is short, but has a long width. We have looked at lots of builders but have struck a brick wall! Has anyone built a wide but short house from a volume builder and know the name of the house? Many thanks! Chris Re: Help with Building 2Nov 14, 2015 8:10 pm Our house is kind of like that, but we went with a custom design through a volume builder. Have you checked out all the issues with setbacks and choice of primary frontage? Normally on corners, people use the short frontage as the primary frontage, and get a reduced setback on the secondary frontage, which works out to be less land lost to the setback. All 3 items listed are defects and are of concern. Please seek qualified independent inspector and/or legal advice for your state. 1 8211 Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7930 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12509 |
