Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1061Sep 25, 2017 11:42 am I am very determined to hold off until everything is right, Hubby on the other hand I think might want to cave when the keys are dangled, but he's not the one that will have to deal with trades after hand over. I have my moments when i feel like all the little issues are wearing me down and I just want it over, but mostly every new issue just makes me dig my heels in more. I'm nothing if not stubborn!
Our landlord was around again the other day, she must have sensed my displeasure with her putting pressure on us for a date last time, she wanted to make it clear that she understands we don't have control over the situation and we can stay as long as needed, she won't make us homeless. We do have a deadline with our landscaping rebate though, they gave us an extension because of the MCP problems but I think that only gives us until about Jan/Feb so we really do need to be in by Christmas. Emts' comment the other day about only having 2 issues got hubby and I thinking about our problems which turned into a game trying to find a building element, other than bricks, that we haven't had some sort of issue or mistake with. We're still thinking . Everything from site cut to paint has had some sort of issue big or small. Not all of them have required intervention by us but we have been aware of them so it has been draining. I'm really, really hoping this trend doesn't continue with the tiles. I feel like we are on the verge of a flurry of activity which is exciting but a little worrying, I'd be happier if a few more things were fixed first. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1062Sep 25, 2017 12:35 pm Oh Bank!! What a ride your having. I honestly thought yours was going to be the most seamless of all of us, sorry I was wrong. Do try to stay stubborn, but its hard when you see those keys. Now that I'm in I can't see what my big hurry was!! I should have told the builder to fix things or I wasn't moving in! Luckily there's only probably a small handful of issues I need them to fix, a lot of the small things I can probably take care of myself (or ..my dad can). I'm glad your landlord/agent is being a bit more understanding. I really hope your in by Christmas!! I don't understand these rebates, its not like we can do anything about it!! Yeah the landscaping rebate isn't really having the desired effect because the time frames are too tight. We're meant to have COO within 12 months of land settling and the landscaping done within 6 months of moving in. Given they didn't let builders in to do soil testing until settlement, the majority of people aren't done within the 12 months so then without the incentive of money people are just doing what ever they want, whenever they want. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1064Sep 25, 2017 2:32 pm We didn't have a landscape rebate.. but you could either have the builder do your fence or pay a bond to the estate for fencing. I went with the builder.. Half the houses in my estate have not followed the guidelines for landscaping and such. Those are tight timeframes, I would have failed them.. I moved in 18months after the land settled.. and landscaping will hopefully be done about 10 weeks after that.. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1065Sep 25, 2017 9:31 pm Waterproofing didn't happen today, not sure why or what that means for Wednesday. We are meant to hear a time tomorrow. Someone did however leave the back door wide open . First time in a while we've had the opportunity to have a wander at our leisure. The skewed hamper has been fixed today , however they haven't touched the other out of square ones. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The window now sticks down about 6mm at one end, less at the other. Not quite flush like we were told. No idea how they plan to deal with the reveal or the silver bit of the window that shouldn't be exposed. There has been talk of plaster, glass or sublime teak laminate. Not too guilty however as this should be every-ones experience not the exception. Guess that means no tiling tomorrow. I had a thought a couple of weeks ago that we won't see tiling until the 7 month mark, it's looking more and more likely. I was hoping with today being the only dry day forecast in the next week that we might see painters. They don't seem nearly as desperate to get rid of the scaff as they say. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1069Sep 26, 2017 4:53 pm So our frustrated SS has confirmed that the waterproofing isn't done so no tile meeting tomorrow. Waterproofing should happen tomorrow (heard that a few times before). He didn't know when tiling would start now but will let us know. We are meant to be going away on the weekend, it's not clear at this point if we need to cancel, very frustrating. He thought meeting most likely Monday, but could be Friday or Saturday. I'll be surprised if it's within the next 2 weeks at this rate. Very sick of being mucked around. Scaff is coming down soon, they will put it back up when the painters come near the end. We are near the end!! We're supposedly getting carpet in 2 weeks for god sake!! Another jgking skillion near here was painted at the same time as the interior while they had the scaff up! This just sounds like another waste of time to me. If that scaff is costing anywhere near what they claim there's no way they would have left it just sitting there for another week and a half. He's still waiting to hear from Haymes re their opinion on how many coats of paint we got. I can see this going nowhere. They're been going around in circles on this one, yet they all agree based on the timeline we can't have got three coats. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1071Sep 26, 2017 6:08 pm well it does sound like they think only 2 coats they just trying to prove it now. you are having the worst run with trades her, you really wonder how they find them. Exactly https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1073Sep 26, 2017 6:33 pm emts well it does sound like they think only 2 coats they just trying to prove it now. you are having the worst run with trades her, you really wonder how they find them. I doubt they'll prove it. It's going to end with "we can't prove it" I can see it now. Apparently the gadget the haymes used to test with has been decommissioned . Our SS has also said our paint is good compared to some of his other ones, I'd hate to see those. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t JG King modified Heywood - Render 1075Sep 27, 2017 4:31 pm So tile meeting is scheduled for 8am Monday. I went down to the house just before 3 to make sure waterproofers had been today, and they were just arriving, hopefully not for the first time . SS was going to check on the job this afternoon or tomorrow morning and take the electrical plan to see just what the sparkies had missed. We mentioned that not all the holes had been cut last walkthrough but we thought maybe we should mention it again since some of the holes that are missing will be under the tiles and it was like he was hearing it for the first time 🤦♀️ Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1077Sep 27, 2017 8:12 pm We don't normally get one. They could really save some money and trouble if they did have meetings at key points like electrical and tiles. I was told at our Beaumonts appointment to give the tilers one instruction, since I know we're not allowed to communicate with trades I asked our SS to pass it on and he suggested we just meet the morning they start https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Render 1078Sep 28, 2017 8:34 am Waterproofing done! Finally! SS obviously hadn't been yet because the back door is still wide open . No new holes where cut where they were missing, they just fitted off the holes that were already there so plenty missing. Points that should be USB don't seem to be and the downlights are not only the wrong colour but completely the wrong downlight! They have used a lower wattage, lower lumens light. Seriously what were these people on when our purchase orders were done?! We can't take a trick!!
