Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 682Jun 14, 2017 10:30 am Nico Out of interest did you get a construction door? No we went with a painted door so it's just our actual unpainted door. I hope they are treating the garage access door as a construction door though, it is damaged from being delivered and left in the rain before the roof went on. I assume I won't have to fight them on this, blind freddy could see and feel the bulge! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 683Jun 14, 2017 10:44 am Devastating news this morning (overly dramatic, I know, but that's how I feel right now), we have to re-select our main floor . Not enough left in the warehouse apparently . Those who have been following for a long time will know that we have already been through this! After struggling to find another tile for ages they eventually realised our tiles were actually sitting in the warehouse waiting for us. Once our slab went down we went back to beaumonts to check that they were still there and we were told there were a fraction more than we needed left, we were the last job to go out. Now apparently there's not enough. No explanation yet, we're waiting on a call back. I'm angry, upset and anxious about what this might do to my bank balance. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 684Jun 14, 2017 11:33 am bank I hope they are treating the garage access door as a construction door though, .... Our garage access door was damaged during construction due to being forced open, but they just patched up the area and painted it. It's still evident where the repair is and it doesn't seal well, but ... it's all within spec according to JGK. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 685Jun 14, 2017 1:26 pm Bricks have started! I'm stoked with the colour! Mortar looks pretty good too, I assume it will lighten a bit as it dries, so it should be pretty close to perfect . They seem to be working very neatly (especially since these bits will be rendered!) so that's good to see . I'm still nervous though, I did spy a couple of wonky donkey bricks on the side of the garage past where the render will stop. Can't wait to get a closer look! Realistically it will be the weekend before I can see it in the daylight though. I assume pulling out my ruler in front of them would be a bit rude . We are using the truffle indulgence from the same range. The bricking looks good too, neat and straight. We were spying on our neighbours build as we are at the same stage. Lets just say, they have some very interesting brick work lol. _____________________________ Follow our build with Boutique Homes on Instagram - ourbarcelona_28 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 687Jun 14, 2017 1:54 pm We heard back from Beaumonts, they are a fraction short but the bigger problem is that they are from 3 different batches! What is the point of sitting them aside if you're not going to make sure each job has enough from a single batch?! No idea if anyone has actually checked if they actually do vary in colour. Fortunately the excitement of bricks has taken the edge off but I'm still not impressed. Apparently they don't need them for a couple months so no rush on re-selecting, I probably won't sleep until it's sorted but if we do it too soon with our luck they'll end up discontinued too. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 688Jun 14, 2017 5:55 pm Such a shame about your tiles ;-; Wow, how did they mess that up so badly? Hopefully its a blessing in disguise, though I understand your frustration. I was so worried about my floor tiles being discontinued due to my huge wait and it was the only one of the builder's range I liked... I hope it all works out!!! Also, very exciting to see your bricks going up. So far they look pretty good Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 689Jun 15, 2017 10:51 am Woohoo bricks they look great so far!! I'm really looking forward to seeing the dark ones go up Oh wow on tile dilemma!!! I can't believe they've screwed it up so badly!! Have you been in to see if there are any other options you like? I think they should have to cover any extra costs due to it being their error!! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 690Jun 15, 2017 10:56 am Woohoo bricks!!! (a tad jelly) Wow what the hell is going on with people and these tiles!!! How devastating babes, sorry you are dealing with thins, I hope you find a fix soon Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 691Jun 15, 2017 11:53 am kylz4 Woohoo bricks they look great so far!! I think they should have to cover any extra costs due to it being their error!! We're going in to have a look at lunch time. I'm still a bit angry but hubby whats to start looking because we usually feel better about these things when we're actually working on fixing the problem. I don't have a lot of hope, she said on the phone that there wasn't really anything new like what we are looking for . When we went through this 12 months ago we had pretty much decided we would fork out for Axis white but now that seems to be gone too! And I would would have much rather they had been on the home loan than out of our pocket. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 692Jun 15, 2017 2:52 pm I didn't last too long at beaumonts, too much anger, too upset, I kept my cool but I had to walk out. There was one that she thinks is new since we were last in but I'm pretty sure I've seen it and it was too light. Axis white is still available, she didn't know why it's not on their website, but it's gone up quite a bit in price and the lay charges must have as well because quoted us nearly 7k! I blanked out when she said the price, it started with a 6 and I remember thinking that's nearly 7k. She couldn't or wouldn't tell us the per metre lay charges. On the home loan last year I would have swallowed that just to have this over, but I can't stomach that coming out of my curtain budget! Sh!t my curtain quotes were only 6.6k! I questioned why they would bother putting them aside in the warehouse if they weren't going to make sure they were from one batch, all I got was that the problem is our appointment was 2 years ago. I bit my tongue but now I wish I'd kept at her, they knew we still wanted them last year and they knew we still wanted them when we came in and checked on them a couple of months ago. I would have preferred they owned up to the problem last year when I could still change other colours to suit and when I could absorb it into our home loan. I feel like beaumonts are wiping their hands of any responsibly due to time. Which normally I would understand, 18 months or whatever it's been is a long time, BUT, they did put them aside when they were discontinued and they knew that we still wanted them! Now we're getting no sympathy and seemingly paying full retail on the tile, we could probably buy them cheaper with their current sale than we are getting charged through the builder. So angry. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 693Jun 15, 2017 4:10 pm That is utter b*llshit about the tiles! Do they think everyone just has a secret stash of money to cover stuff ups in the build? 7k holy cow!!! They should be absorbing the costs, not you. Or at least an acknowledgement that they gave us a bum steer last year and again earlier this year when they told us they were sitting in the warehouse waiting. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 695Jun 15, 2017 4:53 pm Brickies are making good progress. They're only a team of 2 so they say they will be there for at least 2 weeks. They are laying them impressively clean! They're not perfectly straight, there is the odd wonky one, but i haven't seen anything that looks like they wouldn't be to code and compared to a lot of what you see these days we're pretty happy. Neighbours had a toilet and bin delivered today, brickies haven't been able to finish the garage to get out of their way due to our back garage door frame not being delivered. The brickie actually went to pick it up himself today only to be given the wrong size!! Our house is a comedy of errors! Fall protection was also taken off the roof, not that the roofers have been back to finish . I think my bricks took about 2 weeks too. AND OMG TILES!!! I was reading this on the way home.. and wow!!! You poor thing!! What totally poor customer service on their behalf. And agree, they could have acknowledged their mistake instead of trying to brush you off ;-; I hope you can find something you like. and it doesn't cost you too much. 7k is crazy!!! And agree, 7k on the loan is one thing, its another thing to come out of your pocket. Can you increase the loan at all? Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 698Jun 16, 2017 3:19 pm Beautiful day for bricking the north side of a house! We took the guys some refreshments at lunchtime and they were loving life! Garage door frame had turned up as well as the neighbours construction fence so they were pushing to get the garage wall done before they cut. Rest of the bricks are scheduled to turn up Monday hopefully before the north neighbours make any real start . Still super impressed with how clean they are laying them! You don't see that much anymore! I was prepared to bribe them to lay the dark ones clean to avoid too much damage when they wash but I don't think I need to! Mortar is also lightening up nicely! About time we had a trade worthy of a beer delivery Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 699Jun 16, 2017 6:18 pm Oooh!!! Loving the lighter bricks, though can't wait to see the dark. Your facade should be interesting, its very different looking So nice of you to help out your thirsty tradies!! I had planned to do things like that, but it all went up too quick. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 700Jun 17, 2017 9:31 pm Mortar is getting whiter and whiter! It can stop now . While I was out today hubby went to Beaumonts to have a better look and I came home to this.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm yet to see them in the daylight but I have options now so that helps. We can't understand the dark art of jgking tile pricing and neither can anyone else! The tile girl said they are the only builder that she doesn't see the breakdown of the costs so admin is chasing up estimating for some answers Monday, even they couldn't just answer when she asked on Friday! We think (from our own estimation) these range from roughly $1500 to almost $7000 extra. We already spent $1200 on the discontinued one so we think that needs to come off, although that's not entirely clear either, the tile girl was confused by our question and we were confused by her answer. Tomorrow we'll do a display home crawl and see how many of these we can find laid I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
