Haha...clean oven..that will be the last time you see one of those Aww glad to hear bunnies are happier. Its all looking great. You must be happy Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1422Dec 21, 2017 8:36 pm Just with regard to the clean oven which looks mighty fine by the way, I recently came across a product called ekoworx. No harsh chemicals involved etc. Now, my oven is 5 years old and having been used on a regular basis, looked every bit its age. Well, blow me over! It worked, just like they say it does. If you search for it on FB you can see a demo. Amazing stuff. Swear my life on it now! Best cleaner ever! Hands down! And minimal work on my part involved too which is a bonus! JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1423Dec 23, 2017 8:06 am So we had a couple more issues sorted yesterday. The painter woke us up just after 7am (longest we've slept in the new house), to touch up the facade. All looks good except he was meant to paint the dark caulk smears that got on the render when they caulked the window, he painted the actual caulking 🤦♀️. Doesn't look too bad, I can live with it, but it did look better matching the window. Then an electrician came about 4pm, we were expecting him in the afternoon but we had given up so late on the Friday before Christmas. He was definitely a "can do" man, haven't come across many of those in our build! The rangehood duct hadn't been cut to length and hadn't been attached to anything so it was flapping about like one of those blow up advertising tube men, every time we turned it on! It seems it was originally put in the too hard basket with our low roof. Then he spent ages moving the conduit for the island power out of the dishwasher space. He wasn't impressed with their laziness there either. Now we need to get the plumbers back because their pipes are in the way! Electrician said they are normally out of the way in the kicker and couldn't understand why they did it the way they did. I think they were just copying the lazy work of the electricians! Their conduit was already in the way so why bother going to any extra effort . So that's another battle for the new year! They didn't come back to finish the retaining wall! Very frustrating because we haven't organised a fence for that side yet because of it! I'm starting to worry about the local wildlife! There has been a sighting way too close to our house! I know I'll never keep them out completely, but a fence has got to be better than nothing! Also outstanding: Rubbish removal (meant to be done when they take the retaining wall away) Incorrect lock Loose step Ensuite tap Leaking water meter Sewer issue (how do you leave that one all week!) Wrong grout in bathroom https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1424Jan 10, 2018 5:42 pm So apparently we've been in for 3 1/2 weeks already! It kind of feels like yesterday and at the same time forever ago. It felt like home straight away! I was here everyday anyway so it just felt normal to be here. I was expecting to get more of an emotional reaction 🤷♀️. We're slowly getting sorted, sometimes I feel like we have achieved a lot, other times I think we've wasted our time off and feel overwhelmed by the massive to do list! All boxes are unpacked, garage is pretty organised and most things that need to be hung are done, but we haven't even touched outside! Need to collect some new furniture over time, starting with new tv unit and coffee table then a hall table or bench seat for the entry. We also need much more and bigger artwork! Oh and a tall plant to put where the Christmas tree was, it's so bare there now! The house is performing really well thermally! Still no aircon (moving in right before Christmas isn't so great for getting stuff organised!) and on that 44 degree day it only reached 24! With the ceiling fans and cool tiles it was very comfortable! Vastly different from the Victorian cottage we have come from! First fence was finished today! And plumbers finally came to sort out the sewer issue , they didn't find anything today but they'll be back tomorrow to look further. Anyway some moved in pics: This reminds me we need to do something about that WM hose: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ikea mirror in wir: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bunnies inside on the really hot day: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was going to wait to deck out my office but the kids needed a bigger desk anyway, so we just did the lot now. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen and butlers layout are functioning very well, however if I had my time over I would like the long bench under the window to be a bit longer so each bank of drawers could be 5-10cms wider. Dark pantry, as expected, is a pain with kids hand prints! They do wipe off easily, it just needs doing every time I turn around!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have never got around to putting the food processor away, I think it might be staying there! The sandwich press is also typically left out in the butlers. Don't worry, you will always feel like you have a massive to do list.. I've been in for nearly 5 months and I still have a list of things.. XD There's always some new idea or something to improve. The place looks so good, love your decorating!! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1429Jan 10, 2018 10:39 pm aloenyx The place looks so good, love your decorating!! Thanks! I'm very surprised it's kind of come together ok. All our stuff is very hodgepodge. My MIL has her place decorated within an inch of its life and she's been saying for years that it will be good when we get our own place to decorate . I keep telling hubby that she is going to be sorely disappointed because I don't decorate . The vase in the bedroom was my Christmas gift from her. She must have been paying attention to the bits and pieces (mainly linen) that I bought for the house, because she got the colour spot on https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1430Jan 11, 2018 8:56 am Wow, it looks fantastic! Glad to see your bathrooms, we have very similar colours and yours looks fabulous! I've also been planning an Ikea mirror for the WIR to glad to see that works well. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1431Jan 11, 2018 6:54 pm Plumbers left me with this little beauty today! Thanks! Fortunately we are allowed to cover it but it's sitting pretty high. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This replaces the riser pipe that was broken off during construction and never put back. They were looking for it when they arrived yesterday and had to come back today with a digger to find it. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1432Feb 07, 2018 11:46 am Front deck is finally underway! It was tricky to design with the ground falling in 2 directions and wanting it to meet up with the driveway. We ended up with 180mm steps at the front, 115-181mm against the driveway, and the side steps behind the column 160mm. I would have preferred them to all be 160 but to keep the driveway step an acceptable size it meant the front steps needed to be too narrow to be a landing and too wide to be a step. In the end I'm really happy with how it's looking. We used Queensland blackbutt decking. Considered using the same cypress as what is on the house (and letterbox under construction) but we wanted the dressed face which they warn is prone to splitting. The retaining wall was also meant to be gone "by the end of the week". I had to laugh at that, they've now got the driveway people coming to jackhammer it out and they took over 2 months to come back and seal the driveway so I'm not holding my breath! The plumbers have also been and fixed a tap that was on a funny angle and moved the dishwasher back a bit. It still sticks out, turns out the cavity isn't big enough . Still waiting on the retaining wall, tilers to change the grout they did the wrong colour and a loose step to be fixed. Then we'll have our 3 month inspection and start on another list . To be fair we haven't found many issues yet. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1434Feb 07, 2018 12:19 pm Thanks for the up date, glad you have not had too many issues. Our house in Ballarat was flying along until some delightful person/s decided to take all the internal doors on Saturday night, so now everything on hold until we get more doors. The plasterers were meant to start this week, so now everything will be behind☹️ Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1435Feb 07, 2018 12:53 pm GillyH Thanks for the up date, glad you have not had too many issues. Our house in Ballarat was flying along until some delightful person/s decided to take all the internal doors on Saturday night, so now everything on hold until we get more doors. The plasterers were meant to start this week, so now everything will be behind☹️ Geez that's frustrating! Somehow we made it through with no theft or vandalism. I'm amazed because our development is pretty isolated and quiet so there were plenty of stories of it in our street. We had several occasions where the place was left wide open at key times, like the day the ovens went in , you have to wonder who's helping who out. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1437Feb 07, 2018 8:09 pm aloenyx So jealous. I love those steps, wish I had gone with this idea. (Also the umbrella is genius XD) It is a life saver! The yard faces west, we couldn't work out there in the afternoon without it. Of course the men didn't see the value at first I think they thought I was being stupid. It's normally the bunnies umbrella so they're under the alfresco again. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1438Feb 07, 2018 8:29 pm Smart thinking with the brolly Bank... your deck and stairs are going to look amazing! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Handover! 1439Feb 08, 2018 7:49 am Those steps are going to look fab!
