Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 829Jul 22, 2017 11:49 am I'm so excited, it's amazing to see it all coming together and such a relief that I love the colours in real life! I'm really not sure what is going to happen with the island bench position, they've already cut the hole in the bottom panel for the floor waste in it's current position. I'm not sure if they realised after they did it and that's why they have stopped or what has happened? At the moment it is roughly 150mm into the dinning space. It feels great with a bit more space to the pantry and the fridge but I know that the distance from the island to the back door is on the tighter side for dinning and living furniture. The other two issues I can see are the rangehood spot should be an opening cupboard as per the display, its a really wide cupboard so there is space either side of the flue for storage. This is in our contract in words and on the drawings. And then after the kitchen company asked us twice to change the butler overheads to normal doors (rather than lift up) so that we could utilise the corner space, they have gone ahead and built it as per the original plans . Hilariously they have actually built a perfect set of sublime teak open shelves for that corner, they are all perfectly edged striped as if they would be seen, then they have ended up covered by the cupboards either side . At no time did anyone suggest open shelves for that spot for obvious reasons. And we had another visit from the plasters over the weekend, they've done some more patching and marked some areas for sanding. It already looked good to us, we're very impressed with the quality of the plasterers! Really hoping for our fixing walk through this week, I'm desperate to raise some issues. Not sure what I'm going to do after this, I won't have any more walk throughs to see the things I can't see Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 831Jul 24, 2017 1:08 pm bank Not sure what I'm going to do after this, I won't have any more walk throughs to see the things I can't see great time for a holiday so nice and relaxed for the move in JG King Lexington 240 Acreage build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87762 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 832Jul 24, 2017 1:15 pm I couldn't possibly leave them to their own devices . I have discovered you literally have to check everything for yourself because no one else does. I'm currently kicking myself we didn't check the basin tap heights in the bathrooms before the plaster went up. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 834Jul 24, 2017 4:15 pm Yep, if it's one thing I've learnt - check everything yourself! I am going to be such a pain in the arse* when we start building! What's wrong with your taps? Too high or too low? - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 835Jul 24, 2017 4:29 pm Bridgetwitch Yep, if it's one thing I've learnt - check everything yourself! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 836Jul 24, 2017 7:49 pm I didn't check anything like that..hope mine are okay. I wish I had spent a little more time going over the fine details now. My shower hobs are right in the middle of the shower, so will get a bit wet when I turn on the shower.. should have moved them to one side. I only measured because once the vanities were in it was clear they were very high. Tonight the island bench is officially siliconed to the floor 150mm out of position! How the hell can they think it is ok to do that without asking us?! We actually think it might be ok where it is, although not ideal for the dining side, but how can they deviate so far from the plans without checking with us?! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 839Jul 24, 2017 9:23 pm Oh no your island.... will you accept it? I have specified my island is centred to my back kitchen wall as I am a stickler for balance - so I would be furious! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: JG King modified Heywood - Plaster 840Jul 25, 2017 12:01 am aloenyx Wow, that sucks! Do you think they haven't realised its wrong, or are they trying to get away with it? Can't be sure. However I expect kitchen installers know how to read a tape measure! They have positioned it so that it covers the hole where the power and water come through, which should have been moved before they started, but wasn't. We've only been banging on about it since the frame walk through. We've taken every single opportunity to remind them that it is out of position. Same goes for the shower base that is out of position. We are getting very frustrated with all the little mistakes! You expect some but this is getting beyond a joke.
