Been a bit slack on the updates! It all happens so quick, it's unreal!
Brickies are busy for a few weeks, so the plaster will get finished off next week. Painting the next, then hopefully bricks will get done the next week

They take shape to this point so quickly then you get locked out and it all seems to go back to slow motion again

Probably the worst updater ever, but here's the low down and a jumble of pics that have been taken at various times
So far our only real building problem has been our return air for the heating was in the wrong spot, which has since been fixed, so I'm pretty happy I got my way there! Mostly because it was in the "second lounge" that we're using as a study/video games room, which is currently open onto the kitchen/dining/lounge area, but we may plan to put in a wall and close it off one day, depends how messy it gets! Haha!
So right now all we're waiting for is our driveway and garage door, then we'll have our PCI, then handover..
After hand over we have to re-do our crossover - like everyone else on the street - I'm not even going to get started because it's too frustrating to think about why we have to do this.. 🤣 can you guys tell me what your situation was with crossovers? Did you have one supplied, did the builders do it, did you do it after handover etc?
We've also been furniture shopping! Picked out some stuff, so far we've only bought the dining table and chairs (I'll post a pic ) and discovered we can't find desks we like so we're working in getting a custom made flat pack double desk thing.. Hope that works out for us
Alright, piccy time! I'll just post the lot and see if it doesn't break the internet 🤷♀️
(edit: what a heckin trial to upload photos from my phone the raw photos said the files were too big, tried cropping them, still too big. I had to screenshot and crop my pics from Instagram, even then some files would randomly fail to upload, so I had to put them in one by one with no photo preview and try and put them in some kind of order.. So some are missing, some and doubled up, and idgaf anymore, this'll do )
(edit #2 - just a reminder on our colour choices in case anyone is interested..
Whole house paint - Haymes "Aura ng28"
Floorboards - Perfect Timber Floors, Trendline "Sank Oak"
Carpet - Can't remember, it's got little squares on it, don't judge me I picked it 2 years ago when squares were in, its from Cat1 and it's the cheapest crap, you don't want it, trust me ♀️ we'll probably be replacing it in 5 years
Kitchen bench - Laminex "Basalt"
Kitchen cupboards - Laminex "Polar White"
Kitchen and laundry splashback - whatever the standard white subway tile was, with Grants "Iceberg" grout
Bathroom/wet area tiles - Simplicity "Dark Grey" with Grants "Mystic Grey" grout
Laundry sink benchtop - Basalt again
Laundry cupboards and WIR - Laminex "Lustrous Elm"
I'll post exterior colours when I have a better pic on the front now its clean and painted )

Great to see it all finally coming together and so close to being able to move in, also comparatively very few dramas with the build vs many builds on here!!
Re the crossover, city council made us sign an undertaking that they would not issue occupancy without a completed crossover when we purchased our land, apparently they had issues in the past with some estates and landowners never completing a concreted crossover and looking a mess.
Our contract for our land stated the developer could offer to do crossover during development at our cost, although we were never actually offered it, I assume because they used a drive-over kerb meaning no modification was required to the kerb to determine location of crossover.
Our builder included ours; although I made sure I asked during the quoting purpose and ensured it was in the contract we signed that it would be included (standard council crossover detail drawing was even in our signed plans) and our builder included concrete monolith driveway as well.
I now work at a local engineering firm (we do civil and structural works amongst other things) and some subdivisions I believe council make the developer show/construct crossovers as part of the development approval process; possibly where it’s quite a compact/tight street, as I had to draw a number of driveway crossovers as well as footpath onto a pending development for one of our civil engineers; we had to ensure cars could turn in in one movement etc; so it’s possible if you have pre built crossovers that don’t line up with your driveway that they’re the result of that sort of condition (and might have been one of the reasons your development took so long to be completed?)

Yeah, I read in some of the paperwork somewhere that the developer had to provide a crossover, but they were never in the drawn plans.
So what they did was put a shared double crossover between two blocks, so we technically have a crossover, but on the far left of our block, which was ok because we have a space on the left to drive through to the back yard, so we thought that crossover could be useful and we'll just extend it to where we want it for the garage, but the council have said we have to remove the existing crossover before.we put a new one in so we have to pay $800 to get rid of something we didn't want in the first place..
At least we have that drive over kerb as well so putting in a new crossover won't be quite as expensive.. At this point I don't care I just want it done and I want my dang house

I vaguely recall you mentioning this before. I’d say the split crossover was a cost savings measure (that has ultimately cost you more!!)
