Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 27, 2015 3:29 pm Hi Guys! Not sure if there is already a poll like this but I'm interested to find out how much you have spent or are planning to spend on your new house. In Sydney (where I am) lands are being sold at a premium, so it would be interesting to know how much we are willing to spend on top of that. This is just the house component only (without land) but may include things like site costs, driveway, window coverings, landscaping, etc. Please feel free to make extra comments on this post: where you are, what type of house (single/double), etc. Let the poll begins! Re: How much does your house cost? 4Oct 29, 2015 5:58 pm Agreed it is difficult! And include whether it is a single or double storey home, specifications, build Location, Area/perim ratio, Functional areas ratios, engineering efficiency Ratios, blah, blah,blah...my point is there are so many variables that define "how much does my house cost?" You are entering the realms of reverse engineering " What type of house can I expect for $XXXXXX... having X,Y & Z amounts fixed/optimized and then solving for the entire project variables, area, height, efficiencies, etc, etc ...Interesting hmmm Would clients be interested in knowing that there is no other design/size/cost that's better? Re: How much does your house cost? 6Oct 29, 2015 8:03 pm This poll is not meant to be a comprehensive overview of all the different components that make a house a house. It was created to take a snapshot of the total cost that people in this forum spend on their house; i.e. what does this landscape look like?
Looking at the results so far, 60% of people spend up to $300K on their house - which is quite reasonable. The poll option in this forum is very limited. I agree that it would be much better if we can know where people are building, what type of house, how big the house is, etc., which is why I encouraged more information to be added to the comment section. A big thanks to those who have contributed! Re: How much does your house cost? 7Oct 30, 2015 8:05 am BTW..That information is also provided by The ABS and the HIA publish it monthly, and 2016 is a census year.
