Browse Forums Building A New House Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 22Jul 14, 2016 11:58 pm My parents built with National homes & a work college with BGC.... You name it it went wrong with both. I didn't even bother looking in any displays associated with BGC when we were trying to decide on our build because of the horror stories I've heard. My parents took 2 years +. They had the worst communication & were misinformed about so many things, like they were told the council had rejected their plans months after they applied, they actually hadn't even lodged them at all. Had over 60k in incorrect pricing in the quotations. The bricks they had chosen were the last of the lot so they paid for them & had them set aside, to guarantee they were available, then to find National had given the brick makers incorrect measurements, so there wasn't nearly enough. Then the brickies did a terrible job and took massive chunks out of the bricks & the mortar joins all varied in thickness all over the house, it was so bad anyone that wasn't even looking for it could notice straight away (a building inspector later stated it was unsatisfactory workmanship and recommended taking them all down.) Told National when the wrong colored wardrobe fitouts were delivered.... They didn't do anything and they were all installed anyway, to have to be ripped out again. Conduits put in wrong, that had to be pulled out of the walls after the house was finished. Wrong tap fittings installed that had to be removed and retiled Sorry for the massive novel (I'd be here all night if I actually listed everything) but after watching what they went through, I hate hearing about other people having the same experience. I really hope it has all been sorted for you now & that you're being able to enjoy your new home?
